OPPOSITES ATTRACT, RARE ITALIAN AND ICONIC BRITISH CRAFTSMANSHIP TO BE AUCTIONED AT FINAL CCA SALE OF THE YEAR

1972 Lamborghini Espada GT400 S2

Classic Car Auctions have two stunning Italian masterpieces consigned to their final auction of the year at the Warwickshire Event Centre alongside two beautifully restored British icons of the 4x4 world.

Taking place on the 7th December Classic Car Auctions will be selling two fabulously designed Italian cars from 1972 and both needing recommissioning to get them to their best and possibly beyond, the Lamborghini Espada and the Maserati Indy 4700. Both of these cars are UK supplied, so they come in right-hand drive.

The 1972 Lamborghini Espada GT400 S2 is an incredibly rare car, only 1,217 were made and of those, just 575 Series 2s were manufactured with only 58 in right-hand drive. So this UK-supplied car really is exceedingly rare. Estimated at £60,000 to £70,000 this original Espada found its way to Malaysia and has recently returned to the UK where it will be registered in time for the sale. A really interesting car with some early paperwork and a stylish red and black interior. We believe the engines run, but there is some work to do. So take the bull by the horns and with some recommissioning, this is going to be one stunning car ready to charge into the wild.

Another Italian masterpiece is the 1972 Maserati Indy 4700, a Grand Tourer styled by Vignale and in need of some TLC to get it back to where it should be. Discovered in a garage, this stalled restoration project requires finishing. The car does roll, but the 4.7-litre V8 engine with 37,000 indicated miles has not been run for some years. The bodywork, finished in Nautilus Blue, appears to be sound and there are boxes containing the remaining parts including brand new front and rear bumpers. Estimated at £30,000 to £35,000 there appears to be little to do before this Italian stunner takes to the open road again.

Now talking of charging into the wild, we couldn’t be more opposing as we come to a great British icon, the trusty Land Rover. With the launch of the new Land Rover a modern take of a classic art form dividing opinion, the original still holds fond memories for many. Some of us even learnt to drive in one across open farmland when our feet could only just touch the pedals or sitting on an adults lap and just steering and hoping. Classic Car Auctions have two 1960s Series 2As on offer, just three years apart but equally well presented after being restored.

The first one the 1966 soft top has come over from Guernsey and is now UK registered. Finished in Pastel Green this mud plugger has been fastidiously restored by and F1 engineer. The engine has been professionally rebuilt to the original specification as well as the transmission. Estimated at £18,000 to £20,000 this is a stunning Land Rover, one you really need to see and it even comes with the rare and now refurbished Smiths heater.

Our second Landy is a 1969 soft-top which like the other one has undergone a beautiful restoration from the ground up. Estimated at £14,000 to £18,000 this S2A is ready to tackle whatever winter throws at it and to ensure it is well protected the chassis has been finished with a special protective coating and Waxoyl. This is a very competitively guided 4x4xFar.

1992 Ford Sierra XR4X4 Ex-Noel Edmonds House Party Car

The CCA sale on the 5th October at the Warwickshire Event Centre will be selling one of the props from Noel’s House Party, the famous BBC One TV show, an Ex-Garda Police Car.

Among other lots, there are some lovely British classics, a Sunbeam Tiger, a series 2 Jaguar E-type and two classic Jaguars, a Mk 2 and a 340 from the same owner.

All the puns will be coming out for this lot, now is your chance to Grab a Police Car that featured in the famous BBC television show Noel’s House Party. This 1992 Ford Sierra XR4x4 as shown in the documents was originally an Irish Garda car which was purchased for the tv programme. In full working order after being recommissioned, it retains its Police livery and working flashing lights. Powered by the 2.9-litre V6 we are told it drives very well Offered at £5,000 to £7,000 this is a great opportunity to own a piece of TV memorabilia from one of the most famous shows of the 1990s.

Now for something a bit more classic, a real British Bulldog from the swinging sixties era, a 1965 Sunbeam Tiger. This series 1 V8 has had four keepers and been in the same ownership since 1992. The car has been treated to some slight upgrades with improved brakes and suspension as well as a tweaked engine. Fitted with lovely 15- inch Pansport American alloys and presented in Mediterranean Blue, this is a stunning and well-sorted sports car with an estimate of £40,000 to £50,000.

Our next three lots are all Jaguars and one not to be missed is this 1970 Series 2 E-Type Roadster. Estimated at £40,000 to £45,000 this is a very sensible guide price for a British Icon of the motoring world. This 4.2 E-Type was imported from America in 1989 and was professionally converted to right-hand-drive. It has been with the current owner for the last 18 years and has an indicated mileage of 79,822 miles. Finished in Regency Red and with a removable hard-top, this is a great E-type which has been guided to allow for some tidying up and detailing. 

Our final two cars are both from the same vendor and finished in Old English White. The first is a 1961 Jaguar Mk2 2.4 with Overdrive. An original matching numbers car which has undergone some excellent sympathetic restoration to the bodywork, mechanicals and interior leatherwork and documented in the excellent history file. Estimated t £18,000 to £22,000 this lovely classic also has the number plate 84 UPJ included in the sale.

The second of the Old English White Jaguars is the 340. In 1967 Jaguar rebadged the Mk 2 with the 3.4-litre cars being badged as 340. This Jaguar has been subject to a full bodywork, mechanical, electrical and trim restoration over the last four years and is now a lovely matching numbers car. It does come with an interesting history file with photographs of the rebuild and other associated documentation. Estimated at £20,000 to £25,000 another great car to be enjoyed.

911 HEAVEN AT CCA SALE AS A WONDERFUL SELECTION OF PORSCHES COME TO AUCTION

1988 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa

A wonderful selection of Porsche 911s from the 1980 heydays are to feature in the Classic Car Auction sale on the 3rd August, with Targas, Cabriolets and a Carrera G50.

The 1980s iconic car was the Porsche 911 with the large rear spoiler know as a Whale Tail and came to symbolise wealth and success. Some would say that this shape is the best and most sought after.

CCA have four wonderful examples coming to auction on the 3rd August at the Warwickshire Event Centre. Leading the selection is a 1986 Carrera 3.2 with the G50 manual transmission. This is a fabulous car with just two owners from new and a warranted 64,000 miles. Estimated at £50,000 to £60,000 this is a real time warp car supplied new by AFN Porsche in Guildford and recently recommissioned, it comes with a large history file and original keys.

Guy Lees-Milne of Classic Car Auctions commented: “This is a superb 911 and scores very highly in our condition report. It offers everything you could want from a 911, coming with the rare and desirable G50 transmission, finished in the preferred Guards Red, low ownership, what more could you want. A stunning car.”

Two years on we have a 1988 Carrera Targa in Ivory White which has been in the same ownership for the last ten years and is a lovely example of a 911. A UK supplied car with 99,500 miles and a detailed history, this car also won the East Midlands Concours in 1998 for Porsche Club GB. Estimated at £28,000 to £32,000.

If we take a step back to the late 1970s on offer is a 1978 SC Targa. Having just come out of long storage this is a 911 with lots of potential. A left-hand drive car finished in Minerva Blue and with the optional Whale Tail, it was imported from Holland in 1986 and been with the current owner for the last 23 years. With 91,000 miles on the clock and estimated at £20,000 to £25,000 this particular 911 offers a great opportunity to own an exciting car and take it to the next level.

Our final 911 from our sale selection is a beautifully restored 1984 Sport Cabriolet with a Porsche Certificate of authenticity. In 2016 the car underwent bodywork restoration including the inner and outer sills, undersealed a is finished off in Gold with a brown piped interior. Although the car is of a higher mileage, it has had top end engine rebuild only 20,000 miles ago. A lovely looking car with a large history file and estimated at £28,000 to £32,000.

BRITISH POWERHOUSES BEING OFFERED AT CCA MAY SALE

Classic Car Auctions sale on the 25th May at the Warwickshire Event Centre will see a number of British powerhouses going under the hammer from Bentley, Aston Martin, Jaguar and MG.

A combined 20.1 litres of British muscle from a Continental Mulliner GT, DB7 V12 Vantage Coupe, an XJR and an MG RV8 will get you all revved up and raring to go as these impressive cars vie for new homes.

Bentleys give you wings and this 6.0 litre W12 twin-turbo Bentley Continental GT Mulliner will certainly do that! Presented in Diamond Black with a Porpoise Grey and diamond-quilted St.James Red leather interior styled by Mulliner, this 33,553-mile luxury motor will waft you around in style and elegance. Estimated at £20,000 to £25,000 this stunning car comes with an extensive history file and a fresh service prior to the sale.

The Aston Martin DB7 V12 Vantage Coupe is an elegant luxury GT and this 2001 model is presented in Tour de France Blue with a Pacific Grey leather interior. It was supplied new by Aston Martin Stratstone and has had four owners who have covered 76,200 miles. It comes with a partial history and the first 10 years of stamps from the supplying dealer. Estimated at £24,000 to £28,000.

Our next powerhouse comes in the form of a 2005 Jaguar XJR with a 4.2-litre supercharged V8 engine. Extremely well maintained and finished in Radiance Red with a Black Nappa leather interior, the paintwork has been fully protected and the alloys refurbished. This Jaguar has formed part of a private collection where it has been kept in regulated storage. It has been recently serviced and estimated at £7,000 to £9,000.

A large proportion of MG RV8s went to Japan, though quite a few were re-imported back to the UK. This 1994 car is one of those sold new to Japan and returned to the UK in 2006, it comes with an extensive history file in Japanese! Displaying approximately 53,000 miles on the clock and with the current owner for the last three years, this car is presented well in Woodcote Green. Freshly serviced in April, it is now offered with an estimate of £15,000 to £18,000.

1993 Vauxhall Lotus Carlton

Modern Classics from the nineties and Young Timers from the noughties to go head to head at CCA May sale at the Warwick Event Centre on the 25th May with classics from BMW, Porsche and a Lotus Carlton.

CCA are offering for sale two BMW M3s from different decades, a 1990s E30 and a 2003 M3 E46 from a private collection, a powerhouse from Vauxhall, the Lotus Carlton and a Porsche 911 Turbo S.

BMW’s M series are famed for their high performance and always generate huge interest when they come on the market. CCA have two cars from two different eras being offered, the first a 1990 E30 left-hand drive originally supplied to Germany and brought to the UK in 2005. Clearly, this car has been cared for by its three previous owners and enjoyed with 120,000 miles on the clock and an extensive history file with a recent service at a BMW main dealer. Estimated at £34,000 to £38,000 this is one of the most topical modern classic saloons on the market in largely original condition.

From the noughties, a 2003 M3 E46 with 38,000 miles and one previous owner finished in Phoenix yellow and immaculately presented. Supplied with all the original books, main dealer stamped book and recent service. Estimated at £24,000 to £28,000 this is a serious car for a serious collector.

The Lotus Carlton, a four-door powerhouse from Vauxhall with the performance of contemporary sports cars, turned heads in the 90s when the car was launched. CCA have number 886, one of the 284 right-hand drive Carltons made was sourced by the current vendor after a lengthy search. A 1993 model with 76,000 miles, this is a highly original car in Imperial Green and sparingly used in recent years. It comes with a comprehensive history file, service binder and assorted invoices. Estimated at £40,000 to £45,000 the car comes with a valid MOT.

Get ready for the summer with a 2003 Porsche 911 (996) Turbo S Cabriolet, cared for by an enthusiast since 2011. Presented in Basalt Black with 41,000 miles, the original books, stamped service record and serviced in October 2018. A seriously powerful car with a few upgrades, this car is ready for the summer and estimated at £36,000 to £42,000.
