911 HEAVEN AT CCA SALE AS A WONDERFUL SELECTION OF PORSCHES COME TO AUCTION

1988 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa

A wonderful selection of Porsche 911s from the 1980 heydays are to feature in the Classic Car Auction sale on the 3rd August, with Targas, Cabriolets and a Carrera G50.

The 1980s iconic car was the Porsche 911 with the large rear spoiler know as a Whale Tail and came to symbolise wealth and success. Some would say that this shape is the best and most sought after.

CCA have four wonderful examples coming to auction on the 3rd August at the Warwickshire Event Centre. Leading the selection is a 1986 Carrera 3.2 with the G50 manual transmission. This is a fabulous car with just two owners from new and a warranted 64,000 miles. Estimated at £50,000 to £60,000 this is a real time warp car supplied new by AFN Porsche in Guildford and recently recommissioned, it comes with a large history file and original keys.

Guy Lees-Milne of Classic Car Auctions commented: “This is a superb 911 and scores very highly in our condition report. It offers everything you could want from a 911, coming with the rare and desirable G50 transmission, finished in the preferred Guards Red, low ownership, what more could you want. A stunning car.”

Two years on we have a 1988 Carrera Targa in Ivory White which has been in the same ownership for the last ten years and is a lovely example of a 911. A UK supplied car with 99,500 miles and a detailed history, this car also won the East Midlands Concours in 1998 for Porsche Club GB. Estimated at £28,000 to £32,000.

If we take a step back to the late 1970s on offer is a 1978 SC Targa. Having just come out of long storage this is a 911 with lots of potential. A left-hand drive car finished in Minerva Blue and with the optional Whale Tail, it was imported from Holland in 1986 and been with the current owner for the last 23 years. With 91,000 miles on the clock and estimated at £20,000 to £25,000 this particular 911 offers a great opportunity to own an exciting car and take it to the next level.

Our final 911 from our sale selection is a beautifully restored 1984 Sport Cabriolet with a Porsche Certificate of authenticity. In 2016 the car underwent bodywork restoration including the inner and outer sills, undersealed a is finished off in Gold with a brown piped interior. Although the car is of a higher mileage, it has had top end engine rebuild only 20,000 miles ago. A lovely looking car with a large history file and estimated at £28,000 to £32,000.

Classic Car Auctions’ next sale at the Warwickshire Event Centre on the 25th May, will be offering some wonderful British classics owned or known of by the same family for many years.

Riley, Triumph and MG, some of the greatest names of their time, will be represented with a 1933 Riley Nine, a 1967 Triumph TR4A and a 1955 MG Magnette ZA all with long term connections, as well as a 1972 Triumph TR6.

Offered for sale is a 1933 Riley Nine Special Four Seat Tourer. The current owner hand crafted a bespoke 4 seat Tourer bodywork with a folding roof to the chassis of what was once the most successful light sporting car of its time, the Riley Nine. Extensively used for touring and trips to the Continent, the car has been in the same ownership for 19 years. The 1087cc Twin Cam engine was subjected to a recent rebuild and comes with a partial history. Estimated at £12,000 to £15,000 a great little car for the summer.

A stunning 1967 Triumph TR4A presented in Wedgewood Blue and 10 years in the current ownership is being offered for sale. In 2014 the car underwent a body off restoration and repaint which has been comprehensively documented and included in its extensive history file. With a new interior, wheels, tyres, engine, gearbox, overdrive, brakes, and suspension reconditioned, this is as good a car as you could hope for. Estimated at £25,000 to £30,000 it also comes with the desirable Surrey Top.

The first monocoque car to bear the MG badge was the Magnette ZA which was also the fastest saloon in period. This 1955 MG Magnette ZA has been known by the same family for the past 25 years, it was once owned by a family friend and has had a total of five former keepers. Finished in Maroon with Tan vinyl and a service history from 1955 to 1961 and then from 1983 to date, the car will also come with its original seats. This is a lovely car estimated at £8,000 to £10,000.

Rebuilt in 2012, this 1972 Triumph TR6 CP benefits from matching numbers and supported by a Heritage Certificate and original line build specification sheet. When rebuilt it was subject to the usual upgrades and fitted with fuel injection rated at 150bhp, the car also has overdrive on third and fourth gears. A lovely example faithfully restored and estimated at £16,000 to £18,000.
