1970s SUPERCAR WEEK AT ONLINE CLASSIC CAR AUCTION HOUSE, THE MARKET

1970s SUPERCAR WEEK AT ONLINE CLASSIC CAR AUCTION HOUSE, THE MARKET

Classic car auction disruptor, The Market, will auction a trio of exemplary 1970s supercars on its online-only bidding portal this week, where buyers pay only what they bid and sellers receive 95 per cent of the sale price.
The three supercars, a Ferrari 308 GTSi, De Tomaso Pantera L and Jensen Interceptor Mk III, offer classic car enthusiasts and collectors the opportunity to buy a magnificent example of an iconic car of the 1970s style and substance era, from the comfort and convenience of their own home.
“All three of these fantastic supercars are achingly beautiful and brutish to drive!” comments Tristan Judge, director at The Market. “Each car has been exceptionally well maintained, either by their owners or marque experts, and each offers both collectability and driveability. With three to choose from, buyers are really spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing their poison!”
The 1982 Ferrari 308 GTSi for sale was purchased by its current owner in 2013 as his ‘forever car’, which marked the start of a comprehensive restoration with renowned specialists, Italia Autosport, to turn a ‘good car’ into a ‘great car’. Having been driven just 400 miles since its completion to near concours standard and reading just 59,400 miles, the now fully fettled 308 GTSi has an estimated value of £44,000 - £50,000, with bidding already underway and ending on 25th September at 8:00pm GMT.
The second supercar is a 1974 De Tomaso Pantera L in highly original condition and finished in a striking orange, reminiscent of the era. Purchased by the current owner from a church which it was donated to, the Pantera has been treated to new suspension, rustproofing, carburettor rebuild and new engine coolant. Estimated at £65,000 - £75,000 with an odometer reading of just 34,000 miles, the online auction of this cult classic will start on 25th September and end on 2nd October at 8:00pm GMT, a timely purchase in the marque’s 60th anniversary year.
The British supercar of the trio, the 1973 Jensen Interceptor Mk III, is in fabulous condition, just a hair’s-breadth from concours condition. With a 7.2 litre Golden Commando V8 engine and a TorqueFlite automatic gearbox, it is as brutal as it is handsome with lashings of leather, wood and chrome. In the care of the same owner for the past four and a half years, the Interceptor has been treated to vast expenditure at marque experts Cropredy Bridge, where sensible upgrades to the brake system and air conditioning have been installed to allow the vendor to use the car regularly. Reading just 46,259 miles and estimated at £37,000 - £44,000, the online auction for the Interceptor starts on 23rd September and ends on 30th September at 8:00pm GMT.
“As an online auction house we believe strongly in transparency and honesty at the point of sale and purchase. I encourage anyone interested in these fabulous cars to make the most of our detailed online descriptions, large image galleries and videos on our website. Interested buyers can also communicate directly with the seller and even visit and inspect the cars before they bid online. If they are successful, they’ll own a stunning classic supercar by the end of the month,” concludes Tristan, “And if the sixties is more your thing, we have a couple of E-Types being auctioned very soon too.”

GOTCHA! POLICE CAR FROM NOEL’S HOUSE PARTY UP FOR GRABS NOW WAIT TILL I GET IT HOME!

GOTCHA! POLICE CAR FROM NOEL’S HOUSE PARTY UP FOR GRABS NOW WAIT TILL I GET IT HOME!
1992 Ford Sierra XR4X4 Ex-Noel Edmonds House Party Car

The CCA sale on the 5th October at the Warwickshire Event Centre will be selling one of the props from Noel’s House Party, the famous BBC One TV show, an Ex-Garda Police Car.
Among other lots, there are some lovely British classics, a Sunbeam Tiger, a series 2 Jaguar E-type and two classic Jaguars, a Mk 2 and a 340 from the same owner.
All the puns will be coming out for this lot, now is your chance to Grab a Police Car that featured in the famous BBC television show Noel’s House Party. This 1992 Ford Sierra XR4x4 as shown in the documents was originally an Irish Garda car which was purchased for the tv programme. In full working order after being recommissioned, it retains its Police livery and working flashing lights. Powered by the 2.9-litre V6 we are told it drives very well Offered at £5,000 to £7,000 this is a great opportunity to own a piece of TV memorabilia from one of the most famous shows of the 1990s.
Now for something a bit more classic, a real British Bulldog from the swinging sixties era, a 1965 Sunbeam Tiger. This series 1 V8 has had four keepers and been in the same ownership since 1992. The car has been treated to some slight upgrades with improved brakes and suspension as well as a tweaked engine. Fitted with lovely 15- inch Pansport American alloys and presented in Mediterranean Blue, this is a stunning and well-sorted sports car with an estimate of £40,000 to £50,000.
Our next three lots are all Jaguars and one not to be missed is this 1970 Series 2 E-Type Roadster. Estimated at £40,000 to £45,000 this is a very sensible guide price for a British Icon of the motoring world. This 4.2 E-Type was imported from America in 1989 and was professionally converted to right-hand-drive. It has been with the current owner for the last 18 years and has an indicated mileage of 79,822 miles. Finished in Regency Red and with a removable hard-top, this is a great E-type which has been guided to allow for some tidying up and detailing.
Our final two cars are both from the same vendor and finished in Old English White. The first is a 1961 Jaguar Mk2 2.4 with Overdrive. An original matching numbers car which has undergone some excellent sympathetic restoration to the bodywork, mechanicals and interior leatherwork and documented in the excellent history file. Estimated t £18,000 to £22,000 this lovely classic also has the number plate 84 UPJ included in the sale.
The second of the Old English White Jaguars is the 340. In 1967 Jaguar rebadged the Mk 2 with the 3.4-litre cars being badged as 340. This Jaguar has been subject to a full bodywork, mechanical, electrical and trim restoration over the last four years and is now a lovely matching numbers car. It does come with an interesting history file with photographs of the rebuild and other associated documentation. Estimated at £20,000 to £25,000 another great car to be enjoyed.
Gary Dunne, Classic Car Auctions auction manager commented: “Well what can I say about this batch of cars. I remember Noel’s House Party well and this spoof Police car will, I am sure, attract interest. There are always people out there who are keen to own memorabilia and as this programme had a huge following, Grab a Grand, Wait Til I Get You Home and who could forget Mr Blobby? This car could be a chuckle for someone. Just imagine what you could do with it!”
“We always love Jaguars and these three cars are superb, the two Old English White cars coming from the same owner are lovely examples and well guided.”
“We are still accepting entries for this sale, entries close this weekend, and if you are thinking of consigning your car in the future, you can pop along to our Cars Coffee and Consigning event that we are holding at the British Motor Museum on the following Wednesdays 25th September, 9th and 23rd October and 6th November where one of our consigners will be on hand to help you through the process.”

RARITY, ORIGINALITY, ELEGANCE AND SOPHISTICATION AT HEYTHROP BRITISH MARQUES SALE

RARITY, ORIGINALITY, ELEGANCE AND SOPHISTICATION AT HEYTHROP BRITISH MARQUES SALE

1975 Jensen Interceptor III
Silverstone Auctions to bring super rare, original, elegant and sophisticated cars to the British Marques May sale at Heythrop Park on the 11th May.
It is extremely rare to be able to find real British classics with genuine low mileage and when we talk low mileage we are looking at two cars with under 10,000 miles, a 1975 Jensen Interceptor III and a 1962 Jaguar MKII 3.8 manual with Overdrive.
Continuing the British theme will be the 1956 Earls Court show car from Allard, one of six cars and a 1989 Railton F29 which is 1 of only 2.
A 1975 Jensen Interceptor MKIII with just over 9,000 miles and only three owners, is set to get bidders waving their paddles. This car looks likely to be your best possible opportunity of securing a low mileage, low ownership and never restored Jensen Interceptor. Supplied new in April 1975 in old English white with a red leather interior, this car has had just 3 owners and the current vendor had the car gifted to him by his father. The car has always been dry stored, never required any major work and has recently been lightly recommissioned by a highly regarded marque specialist. In time warp condition, this car represents a unique opportunity to own an Interceptor with all its original factory finishes intact, which include the fluted bonnet, burr walnut facias and Radiomobile. The Interceptor comes with its original toolkit, a substantial history folder with original documents, handbook, wealth of invoices and MOTs corroborating the indicated mileage. If you are a Jensen enthusiast or someone who collects the “Holy Grail” of classic cars then this has to be a must, estimated at £60,000 to £70,000.
For all Jaguar enthusiasts the MKII 3.8 is a real classic, but what makes this 1962 car even more so, is the fact it has just 8,725 miles on the clock and comes in manual with overdrive. The car has substantial history having started out in 1962 and used as a “Sunday car” before the owner passed away leaving his wife to care for the car. In the 1980s a lucky neighbour seized the opportunity to acquire the car before selling it on in the 1990s to the current vendor who had bought it for his father. Beautifully presented in opalescent bronze with cream leather interior which is gently patinated and siting on chrome wire wheels, this cars has been in storage for a fair proportion of its time. Beautifully preserved, with the doors shutting with a satisfying click and maintained by marque specialists, it is accompanied by all the original documents, handbooks, toolkit plus the article of the car as featured in Classic Cars. This really is a remarkable car and a wonderful opportunity to acquire a classic Jaguar in such condition with this low mileage at an estimated £45,000 to £55,000.
The 1956 Earls Court Motor Show saw Allard debut to the world, the prototype MKII Palm Beach, to much acclaim. But the show failed to generate enough orders and just six of these cars were produced, making it a super rare car to own. This prototype went on to become the Allard demonstrator before eventually going into storage in 1976 by Peter Hemsworth. The car was subsequently purchased by Alan and Lloyd Allard, son and grandson of Sydney Allard, who set about restoring the car. Lovingly restored to breath taking standards and presented in Carmine red with a cream and red leather interior, the car was displayed at the 2014 NEC Classic Car Show and subsequently featured in a seven page article including a road test in the January 2015 issue of Octane magazine. This is an important Allard, offered with a fascinating history file, restored by the descendants of Sydney Allard and some of the original factory engineers, offering a rare opportunity to own a unique piece of Allard history estimated at £75,000 to £95,000.
For something really unique, extremely limited and ultra exclusive, the 1989 Railton F29 Claremont, the brainchild of William Towns, designer of the DBS V8 and Wedge Lagonda. One of only two cars produced and based on the running gear of the Jaguar V12 XJS, this is a super sleek, aluminium bodied car produced by the newly formed Railton Motor Company. Priced at £105,000 new in 1991 this Claremont remained in the possession of William Towns until after his death in 1993. The current vendor has owned the car since 2006 forming part of a significant private collection and covered just 13,700 miles since 1989. It has been lovingly maintained and is accompanied by an interesting history file containing, road test reports, magazine articles and sale brochures. The Railton F29 Claremont is a unique opportunity to acquire an ultra exclusive reminder of William Towns legendary vision estimated at £60,000 to £70,000
Arwel Richards, Auction Manager for the Heythrop sale commented "The British Marques sale has some really significant cars being offered, with very interesting history of the British car industry.”
“We are delighted to be offering these four cars amongst our lots on the 11th May at Heythrop, which will undoubtably generate a lot of interest.”
“With a Classic Car sale the day before, with some equally rare and exotic cars, we are looking forward to a great weekend of sales.”
Silverstone Auctions are still accepting cars for the auction and can be contacted on 01926 691141 or email enquiries@silverstoneauctions.com and would be happy to talk with you and help you through the process of consigning your car.

COYS BRING THEIR TRADITIONAL SELECTION OF EXCELLENT MOTOR CARS TO FONTWELL HOUSE

COYS BRING THEIR TRADITIONAL SELECTION OF EXCELLENT MOTOR CARS TO FONTWELL HOUSE

Coys bring their traditional selection of excellent motor cars to Fontwell House for their Goodwood Motor Circuit Revival Race Meeting Sale.
Coys, the International Auction House will once again be packing the sumptuous surroundings of Fontwell House with some of the most desirable automotive offerings from across the globe. Amongst the exciting motor cars on offer, some of the gems that truly stand out are the 1977 Ferrari 308 GTB Vetroresina, a 1973 Trojan T101 and a 1935 MG PA Airline Coupe.
1977 Ferrari 308 GTB Vetroresina
The Ferrari Vetroresina has been meticulously looked after over the years. With only one previous owner from new, it is a very rare UK right-hand drive specification Ferrari. It is finished in Nero over Nero, this car is not only a very fun car to drive, but also extremely rare and as such an excellent investment opportunity. Estimated £130,000-150,000.
The 1973 Trojan T101 is one of five such cars produced by Trojan for the Formula 5000 regulations of the time. It was built for the 1973 season on behalf of Ian Ward Racing and driven by Keith Holland. This car was entered for Keith Norris’s F5000 revival series in 1983, later at the “Southampton Ocean Village Sprint” in 1987, before being placed into storage for almost 30 years. Since being returned to superb race-worthy order, this very car has won its class in the highly competitive HSCC Derek Bell Trophy. The estimate is £75,000 – 95,000.
1967 Specification 330 P4 roadrace car
For anyone not quite so racing minded, but with arguably even more “presence” than the Trojan, Coys are especially delighted to offer an astonishing survivor of the “Art Deco” period, and an original 1935 MG PA with exquisite “Carbodies” Airline Coupe coachwork. It was designed by H.W. Allingham and subsequently marketed by him. In total it is believed that a mere 51 were ever constructed, with the majority of those cars being built on the four-cylinder MG PA and PA series. Estimated £70,000 – £90,000.
A 1970 Citroen Mehari is also going under the hammer. This wonderful car was imported from Spain in 2017 where the previous owners had undertaken a sympathetic restoration of the car. This work included a new hood and side screens as well as re-upholstering the interior. Currently, the car shows approximately 37,000kms on the odometer. The estimate is £10,000 – 12,000.
A car representing the absolute pinnacle of post-World War Two British motoring ingenuity is the 1947 Allard K1. It is one of only 7 road going K1’s in the UK today, among the 151 originally produced. This car was completely rebuilt in the late 1990’s and used regularly by its then owner, John Aldridge. In its current ownership since 2013, it has won the Allard Owners Club Concours twice and picked up “The Best Allard to Take Home” award, as voted by the members. Estimated £65,000- £75,000.
