A FABULOUS FEAST OF FOUR DIFFERENT FERRARI 599S AT SILVERSTONE AUCTIONS SALE

A FABULOUS FEAST OF FOUR DIFFERENT FERRARI 599S AT SILVERSTONE AUCTIONS SALE
2008 Ferrari 599 GTB Manual

The sale of Ferraris being held at the Dallas Burston Polo Club just got even more mouth-watering with over £1 million worth of super rare variations of the Ferrari 599 to be sold by Silverstone Auctions.
The range-topping and most powerful of the four cars is the 2011 599 GTO of which 60 or so of these cars were built in right-hand drive and was the road-going version of the track day 599XX. To make it even more special, it is presented in the rare colour of Avus Bianco with Tour de France Blue stripes, which was a special order request and possibly making this car unique. Supplied new by Ferrari Singapore where the car was regularly serviced and lived until 2017 before coming to the UK, the car has covered 10,920km. This 599 comes with the official Ferrari service book with all the stamps clearly visible and with all UK taxes paid the car now conforms to the same specification as a UK example. An amazing opportunity to acquire a super rare 599 estimated at £400,000 to £460,000.
Our second Ferrari 599 is the 2008 GTB. What makes this one so special is that it is one of just ten examples supplied to Europe made with the manual gearbox, as opposed to the F1-style paddle shift systems. In total, just 30 cars were made worldwide in this specification making these cars virtually unobtainable. Estimated at £365,000 to £400,00 this left-hand-drive 599 looks stunning in Fiorano Rosso with Cuoio interior. Now UK registered, this Swiss supplied car was bought by our vendor, the second owner, in 2018 and has formed part of his significant Ferrari collection. With just 19,000km on the clock, this 599 has been regularly looked after and cared for, coming with its original full luggage set, build brochure and history file. Now in the care of Silverstone Auctions and available for private inspection, this is an extremely rare car and very collectable.
The third Ferrari 599 is just as special as the others, it is a special edition GTB built to celebrate 60 years of F1 wins and named after the multiple F1 champion Fernando Alonso. This 2012 Ferrari 599 GTB 60 F1 Alonso Final Edition is being offered at £220,000 to £260,000 and is one of 40 cars built and based on the HGTE model. Finished in Rosso F1 Storico with white highlights and a bespoke Alonso interior, this very special 599 was registered as a demonstrator by Gaudual Sport S.A.S Ferrari France in 2012 and purchased by its first owner in 2013. Imported to the UK in 2017 and used sparingly forming part of the vendor’s collection, this car has been serviced by Maranello Egham and Dick Lovett Ferrari in Swindon. As 2012 marked the end of the production for the 599 this immaculate 8,000-mile example is extremely tempting as they do not appear very often.
Our final 599 is a 2007 GTB Fiorano finished in Nero Metallic with a Rosso leather interior. A great value car at £90,000 to £105,000, this 599 has a very impressive specification and is in superb condition. The UK specified right-hand drive car with just 26,000-miles on the clock, this 599 has been serviced by Graypaul no less than ten times. A great opportunity to acquire an entry-level 599 in superb condition.
Harry Whale, auction manager for Silverstone Auctions commented: "It is a very special moment for us to be offering not one but four different variations of the Ferrari 599 at our sale on the 21st September.”
“Each of these cars offers something very special and different making them super collectable within their own right.”
“For any Ferrari enthusiast these cars will attract lots of interest, as cars of this rarity do not come to market that often.”
“Where else will you find four different 599s to suit all requirements. The vendor of the manual 599 told me how great it is to drive. Our sale is a unique opportunity to acquire something truly useable as well as collectable.”
Silverstone Auctions sale also includes a selection of marque related automobilia which starts at 10.30am.
The most successful car in the history of F1 is the Ferrari 312T which was raced by some of the greatest drivers and the automobilia sale has a number of 312T related items.
One of the lots, a striking original Acrylic on canvas depicting the late great Niki Lauda in his Ferrari 312T at Casino Square by Arthur Benjamins. The vendor purchased it directly from the artist 42 years ago and had it signed by Niki Lauda in 2013. Coming with a certificate of authenticity it is estimated at £5,000 to £7,000. These works of art are highly sought after, so this presents a rare opportunity to acquire one.
There are also two 1/12 scale models, a Ferrari 312T driven by Niki Lauda to the 1975 F1 World Championship and another the 312 T4 driven by Gilles Villeneuve. Both are one off-pieces and finished to the highest standards and estimated at £500 to £1,000 each.
Jody Scheckter, who famously drove for Ferrari, is depicted in this stunning photographic print by Michael Hewett on the run down to Mirabeau in the 312 T5 and signed by him with a certificate of authenticity.
The Sale of Ferrari and Porsche takes place at the Dallas Burston Polo Club on Saturday 21st September. The auction starts with automobilia at 10.30, followed by the Ferrari sale at 12.30 and Porsche at 2.30. The lots can be previewed on Friday the 20thSeptember from 1pm to 5pm.

FERRARI DAYTONA FORMERLY OWNED BY SIR ELTON JOHN TO BE AUCTIONED

FERRARI DAYTONA FORMERLY OWNED BY SIR ELTON JOHN TO BE AUCTIONED
1972 Ferrari 365 GTB4 Daytona

1972 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona formerly owned by Sir Elton John is returning to the market at Silverstone Auctions sale of Ferraris and Porsches at the Dallas Burston Polo Club on the 21st September.
Registered new on the 3rd August 1972 by Maranello Concessionaires, the documents show that Sir Elton John, who has an enviable car collection of some of the finest classic cars, owned this stunning Daytona from 1973 to 1975, purchasing the car off the back of the success of “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” and among the first Ferraris owned by the rock star at the start of his music career.
This is one of only 158 genuine right-hand-drive UK-supplied Daytonas and finished in the glorious colour combination of Rosso Chiaro, with the interior in the factory specified Black VM8500 Connolly Vaumol hide, which was re-trimmed in 2017.
The 365 GTB/4 Daytona gained its nickname from Ferrari’s dominant clean sweep of the podium in the 1967 Daytona 24 hour race, even though this car was designed as a road-going grand tourer, it gained considerable success in racing.
This Daytona has an excellent history file with the factory build sheets, order forms, every Ferrari service and receipt, including every MOT certificate to confirm its indicated 82,000 miles.
This is a great opportunity to own a fabulous Ferrari with rock and roll heritage and owned since by Ferrari Owners’ Club members and one previous owner who had the car for 16 years and maintained it regardless of cost. This car has been cherished to keep it in such wonderful condition.
This matching numbers car with known ownership from new, was formerly sold by Silverstone Auctions two years ago and is now being offered by the deceased’s estate at the Sale of Ferraris on the 21st September. Offered at £425,000 to £475,000 this is one of the finest and competitively guided for sale.
Arwel Richards, Silverstone Auctions Classic Car Specialist commented: "We have sold a number of cars that have been owned by Sir Elton John, including a 2014 Bentley Continental GT Speed directly from his personal collection."
“Sir Elton John famously has a long affinity with Ferrari, having owned several range-topping V12 models that included a 365 BB, Testarossa and 512 TR over the years. It is believed this Daytona was his first Ferrari, buying it at the age of 26 in 1973 and keeping it until 1975, parked alongside his 1974 Ferrari 365 Berlinetta Boxer."
"The history file is exceptionally detailed and is a testament to the care of the previous owners in collating the car's file as much as caring for the car's condition for 47 years. We had the honour of selling the car in 2017 and it was bought by a young collector, Mr Harris, with the car stabled among his 1974 Ferrari 264 Dino, 1991 Ferrari Testarossa and several Porsches. Sadly Mr Harris died this year and we are offering the car on the behalf of his family."

A SALE OF FERRARI AND PORSCHE HEADS TO THE DALLAS BURSTON POLO CLUB ON 21ST SEPTEMBER

A SALE OF FERRARI AND PORSCHE HEADS TO THE DALLAS BURSTON POLO CLUB ON 21ST SEPTEMBER
1990 Ferrari 348 TB

Silverstone Auctions next sale will be held at The Dallas Burston Polo Club and will be for a Sale of Ferrari and Porsche on the 21st September.
Held in association with the Porsche Club GB and The Ferrari Owners Club of Great Britain, this sale will be a selection of some of the finest sports cars from these German and Italian marques.
Already consigned is a 1990 Ferrari 348 TB. Launched in 1989 this is one of the 60 pre-production models with styling cues taken from the Testarossa, its side strakes and rectangular taillights. When production ceased in 1993, just 2,894 cars had been produced and with such a limited run of cars, this is a great opportunity to acquire 3.4 litre V8 Ferrari which has just 2,500 kilometres on the clock from new. This is one superb car, not only is it is Classiche certified, but it also comes with the completely original luggage set, tools, jack and leather book pack. Offered at £85,000 to £95,000 this left-hand-drive 348 is now UK registered and has been recently serviced by a Ferrari main dealer. This really is one for the collector.
The Porsche 911s from the 1980s are considered to be one of the best designs, with their big whale tails and flared wheel arches for a more sportier appearance. When you get to the level of a Carrera Supersport Cabriolet, well what a stunning car it becomes. It is revered as the ultimate development of the 911. This 1986 version with just over 50,000 miles really looks the part. Presented in black with a cream and black piped leather interior, this two-owner car has recently had a service totalling £5,500 by a marque specialist which also included a new clutch, exhaust, fuel tank and pump. Offered at £55,000 to £65,000 this black beauty comes with its tools and service book.
Harry Whale auction manager for Silverstone Auctions commented: “Our sale of Ferraris and Porsches gives a great opportunity to showcase these fine sportscars.”
“This year will be the first time that we hold the two sales on one day at the Dallas Burston Polo Club. The venue is also great for accessibility with parking very close to the auction and with food on offer from the on-site restaurant.”
“We are of course delighted to be working with our two clubs, this will be our fifth auction with Porsche Club GB and the second with The Ferraris Owners Club of Great Britain.”

THE SÁRRAGA COLLECTION: RM SOTHEBY’S HIGHLIGHTS RARE CARS WITH PORTUGUESE HISTORY AHEAD OF SALE

THE SÁRRAGA COLLECTION: RM SOTHEBY’S HIGHLIGHTS RARE CARS WITH
PORTUGUESE HISTORY AHEAD OF SALE

RM Sotheby’s is delighted to reveal more details of rare and exclusive cars to be offered from the Sáragga Collection, presented entirely without reserve nearby the stunning beach location of Comporta, Portugal, on 21 September 2019. Many cars of the 130-strong collection gathered by discerning enthusiast and collector, Mr Sáragga, are highly collectable individual automobiles that boast lovely Portuguese provenance, sure to resonate strongly with local collectors and beyond.
Among the most significant lots is a 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS Touring, delivered new to Portuguese Angola and which has remained in mainland Portugal since 1975. The beautifully restored, late third-series example of Porsche’s iconic and highly collectable 911 Carrera RS 2.7 Touring retains its original engine and gearbox and is just one of five delivered in stunning, special-order Signal Orange (1414) with a black leatherette interior. A Porsche Certificate of Authority notes that this RS was factory-equipped with an electric sunroof, headrests, tinted glass and a Blaupunkt stereo. Boasting racing history in Portugal, participating in the 1979 Rally Portugal Vinho do Porto, wearing race number 24, and, at the 20th anniversary of Estoril in 1992, this RS finished first in Group 4. The car underwent a full restoration in 2012 and has covered fewer than 3,000kms since. Following restoration, the RS featured in the book ‘50 Years of Porsche in Portugal’, highlighting Porsche’s rich history in the country (Est.€450,000 – €550,000).
One of the many highlights of the pre-war cars offered in the Sáragga Collection is a 1939 Delahaye 135M Cabriolet by Chapron, which was delivered new to Lisbon and has remained in Portugal all its life. The rare and authentic Chapron ‘Grand Luxe’ bodywork features unique doors, hood, bumpers, and wings, as well as a luxurious interior that – at the time of specification – could be detailed to the buyer’s express wishes. The Grand Luxe kit increased the price of the car by around 50% compared to a standard body, therefore only around 40 of these were built and fewer than 20 are known to survive. Before joining the Sáragga Collection, the car last changed hands in 1996 following long periods of family ownership (Est. €400,000 – €450,000).

An extremely rare and highly desirable 1955 WD Denzel 1300 also features in the collection, as one of approximately 65 models constructed and one of roughly 30 known to remain, with just five Portuguese owners from new. This car —chassis number DK32—arrived with the Lisbon-based Denzel importer, Auto Portuguesa, in 1954, before it was entered into a handful of races and rallies. Its competition high point was placing second overall and first in class at the Rallye a San Pedro de Moel in August 1956. The car briefly returned to the Denzel factory in Vienna for modification, with its original body replaced with a later style unit, and the original 1,500cc engine replaced with a 1,300cc Super Sport powertrain, benefitting from a small power increase. The car returned to Portugal to race once more and was fully restored in 2012, presenting a rare opportunity to own an immaculate example of this highly unusual, charismatic and historically significant small-capacity racing sports car (Est. €380,000 – €450,000).

1966 Mercedes-Benz 600 Sedan by Chapron is a one-off, coachbuilt example, residing in Portugal with 30 years of single ownership prior to joining the Sáragga Collection. Featuring a full glass roof that is unique to this car, the first buyer – an oil magnate – turned to the coachbuilder, Henri Chapron, after Mercedes-Benz turned down his request for a full glass roof. Upon the first owner’s passing, the car was left in his will to the Portuguese gardener of his house in Cannes. The car has been in Portugal since (Est: €300,000 – €450,000). A 1947 HRG Aerodynamic by Fox & Nicholl is documented as having Portuguese competition history with class wins and remains eligible for historic racing and rallying today. Having competed in various Portuguese races and hill climb events in the 1940s and 50s, the car was rediscovered in 1989 and was subsequently fully rebuilt (Est: €180,000 – €250,000).

One of the first Jaguar E-Type coupes built – largely, by hand – at Jaguar’s Coventry facility, is also offered in the sale. The 1961 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 3.8-Litre Fixed Head Coupe is also the very first E-Type FHC to be registered in Portugal. Perhaps most importantly, it was built prior to February 1962 and is an early ‘flat floor’ example so coveted by collectors (Est. €140,000  €160,000). Another unique car offered at auction is a 1953 Bristol 401 Saloon, delivered new to Portugal and remaining there since, this is among the last of the 401s built, itself ranked as one of only 700 ever manufactured (Est. €30,000 – €40,000).
Paul Darvill, Car Specialist, RM Sotheby’s, said: “The scale of exclusive and rare cars we have available in Portugal is significant. The local provenance is a key feature of a number of lots and this is not restricted to the higher valued cars, so there is something for everyone within the sale. With a high number of accessibly priced cars, the Sáragga Collection is not only open to traditional collectors but also to those wanting to buy some really interesting cars from a well-known collection whilst visiting a stunning beach location.”
The Sáragga Collection calls the small, picturesque town of Alcácer do Sal home, just minutes from the seaside region of Comporta, which has quickly become one of the most fashionable and stylish resorts in Europe. The region offers the perfect setting for a warm weekend away in Portugal this autumn, with a number of luxury hotels and restaurants nearby, and just an hour’s drive from Lisbon International Airport. The Sáragga Collection reflects the discerning and eclectic personal tastes of its owner, with many cars combining broad desirability with strong Portuguese provenance and history. The collection comprises over 130 cars to include pre-war greats, exclusive Porsche models, American classics of all eras, and some rare and diminutive microcar gems. Values within the collection range from as little as €10,000 through to €800,000.
