ESSEX CLASSIC CAR AUCTIONS - Just three days to go...

Just three days to go...

Our next auction takes place on Sunday and with just three days to go, there has been a flurry of activity as consignments are confirmed and new enquiries made from both potential buyers and sellers. With that in mind, we thought you might like an update on some of the vehicles that have been recently entered.
With only a registered 85,000 miles on the clock, this beautiful example of Mercedes very popular 300SL has been recently had its bright red bodywork refreshed and is now in very good condition, as is the pale brown leather, chrome and wood trimmed interior. With an estimated value of £18,000-£21,000, this is a lovely car to simply own and enjoy - and it is being offered with a very sensible reserve.
Below this are two iconic cars that helped define the era(s) in which they appeared: Estimated at between £25,000-£30,000, this 1964 Jaguar Mk2comes with what is described as a "stunning" pictorial history of the 9-years of restoration work that culminated in a win at the Cape Drivers Jaguar Club - Concours D'Elegance 2013.
Alongside that, this lovely little 1977 MGB Convertible Roadster has been in a collection for the last few years and with a little TLC and recommissioning is bound to make its new owner very proud. We feel the reserve on this vehicle is very reasonable and it should sell for up to £4,000.
Recognisable the World over, this beautiful 1986 Rolls Royce Silver Spur has had an easy life as a wedding car, where it never failed to impress all those that rode in her - and with acres of cream leather to recline in, who would disagree? With an estimated value of between £8,000-£10,000, this Rolls is stunning value for money and can be an "instant business" as well as an investment.
With an estimated value of just £3,000-£5,000, this delightful 1968 Wolseley Hornet has just 72,000 miles on the clock and just two owners from new. The bodywork has been resprayed at some point and would benefit from a good cut and polish, while the interior has been left as original, to retain the patina of age.
Restored 10 years ago, this 1973 "Tin Top" VW Camper benefits from long-term ownership by an enthusiast owner and is described as being in very good condition and comes complete with a VW awning (which can be viewed in the pictures on the ECCA website). With an estimated value up to £18,000 this lovely "Motor Caravan" has a current MoT and is road, camping and music festival ready!
.

Its not too late...

...to enter a vehicle into the auction, as we can accept consignments right up to the moment the auction starts. If you would like more information, give us a call on 01702 416153 and we will take care of everything for you - and don't forget, we have one of the lowest commission buyers rates at just 5% each, with a minimum of £100 + vat.
The auction starts at 2:00 pm on Sunday and with viewing from 3:00pm until 6:00pm on Saturday and then from 10:00 am on the morning of the sale, there is always plenty of time to have a good look round and maybe enjoy a relaxing cup of coffee - or even a beer or glass of wine in the bar before the hammer is lifted.

We hope to see you there.

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM (6 September 2017) - Just days away from its historic single-marque sale held in partnership with Ferrari, RM Sotheby’s is thrilled to announce the addition of a 2013 LaFerrari Prototype to the Ferrari – Leggenda e Passione catalogue.

Produced in late 2012 as a pre-production model, this LaFerrari prototype holds a special place in the hierarchy of the revered model and is likely memorable to any enthusiast lucky enough to purchase a LaFerrari new. This was the very first LaFerrari that most laid eyes on, used by Ferrari during the private preview for the model in 2013. Kept in the factory Atelier throughout 2013, it was made available to every client who travelled to Maranello to configure their new LaFerrari. Offered for sale for the very first time, this is a remarkable opportunity to purchase an exceptionally interesting and significant LaFerrari directly from the factory (Est. €1.100.000 - €1.300.000). With the addition of the LaFerrari Prototype, RM Sotheby’s has assembled every Ferrari supercar for the Maranello sale; 288 GTO, F40, F50, Enzo, and LaFerrari.

Furthering the supercar lineup, Ferrari has also unveiled details of the unique livery set for the 2017 LaFerrari Aperta that will close the 9 September sale. The Aperta will be finished in a one-of-a-kind stunning metallic Rosso Fuoco with a metallic Bianco Italia double racing stripe on the bonnet and rear deck. The interior will be trimmed in black Alcantara with red leather inserts on the seats, red stitching, and glossy black carbon fibre trim. RM Sotheby’s and Ferrari are also pleased to announce that all proceeds from the sale of the car will be donated to Save the Children for an international program focusing on education.

The only road-going Alloy 365 GTB/4 Daytona in existence has been garnering significant attention ahead of the Ferrari – Leggenda e Passione sale, and RM Sotheby’s is pleased to announce that its new owner will not be responsible for any costs associated with obtaining Certification from Ferrari Classiche. All costs will be taken care of by the seller. What’s more, a full restoration is not necessary nor required for Certification, making this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity all the more special.

For further information on the Ferrari sale and to view all entries in the complete digital catalogue, please visit www.rmsothebys.com, or call +1 519 352 4575 (North America) or +44 (0) 7534 860 833(Europe) to speak with an RM Sotheby’s car specialist. The sale will also stream live online on the RM Sotheby’s website, providing real-time coverage of the event.

Auburn, Indiana (5 September 2017) – Auctions America, an RM Sotheby’s company, continued the Labor Day tradition this past weekend (31 August – 3 September) with its flagship Auburn Fall sale at the historic Auburn Auction Park. A tremendous success, the four-day auction saw total sales of $19.2 million with a strong 79 percent sell-through of all lots offered, which included more than 700 vehicles and over 250 lots of memorabilia.

A freshly renovated auction arena and constant crowds brought strong prices from Thursday through Sunday at Auburn Fall. Leading the top five was quite possibly the most significant automobile ever offered by Auctions America at the Auburn Auction Park, a 1933 Duesenberg Model SJ ‘Sweep Panel’ Phaeton, J-510, retaining its original body by LaGrande. Though the Model SJ did not meet its reserve on Saturday, it was quickly sold the following day for a well-deserved $2,300,000 to become the most valuable automobile sold in Auctions America history, and demonstrating the continued efforts of Auctions America’s Still for Sale team after each hammer falls. The second of two mighty Duesenbergs on offer at Auburn Fall, a 1929 Model J Convertible Coupe, J-417, the only example originally fitted with coachwork by Fleetwood, also saw spirited bidding, selling for a within-estimate final price of $990,000 on Saturday afternoon. Additional highlights from Saturday’s feature segment include a Bloomington Gold-winning 1953 Chevrolet Corvette, which sold for a healthy $269,500 (Est. $225k-275k), a 1937 Packard Twelve Coupe Roadster offered from single ownership since the 1980s achieved $261,250 (Est. $225k-275k), and an exceptionally restored 1958 Buick Limited Convertible brought $239,250, well exceeding its pre-sale estimate of $175,000 - $225,000.

Auburn Fall once again illustrated the power of no reserve offerings, as two groups of cars from single collectors out-performed pre-sale expectations on both Friday and Saturday. On Friday, Lots 2104-2112 nearly all exceeded estimate, highlighted by a 1931 Cadillac V-8, which more than doubled its low estimate at a final $169,400 (Est. 75k-90k). On Saturday, lots 4125 – 4131 saw exceptional results, led by the Buick Limited Convertible mentioned above, as well as a 1956 Mercury Montclair, which brought $137,500 against an estimate of $75,000 - $100,000.

Another memorable auction moment came during the sale of the Private Tour of Jay Leno’s Personal Garage on Saturday afternoon. After an exciting competition between bidders in the room and on the phone, the tour for four raised a final $35,000 to benefit Jay Leno’s JDM Charities, as well as Honor Flight of NorthEast Indiana. Auctions America also pledged to donate $25,000 of the proceeds from Auburn Fall to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.

Crowds gathered at the Auburn Auction Park for additional activities across the weekend. Further to the traditional onsite car corral and swap meet, Auburn Fall offered monster truck shows and rides, stunt bike shows, helicopter rides, a Retro Swap, kid’s scavenger hunt and more. The Saturday morning Cars & Coffee drew more than 200 vehicles from near and far, and celebrity appearances by former NASCAR Champion Rusty Wallace and Dave Kindig of Velocity Channel and Kindig-It Design saw hundreds lineup for an autograph.

“We’re proud of our success in restoring the Auburn Auction Park and bringing the annual Auburn Spring and Fall events to new heights,” said Donnie Gould—who leads the Auctions America team and has been coming to Auburn since childhood—following the event. “Thanks to our international marketing reach and in response to client demand, we’ve been able to continually increase the quality of cars on offer at Auburn Fall, which shone through this year in a 26 percent increase in the average sale price per lot.”

“The Auburn Auction Park is rooted in collector car history. We have already invested significant resources in the Park and look forward to furthering this investment in an effort to elevate the client experience and seamlessly serve the entire spectrum of the collector car market.”

Gould adds, “The RM Group of Companies, myself included, is a team driven by passion. My own passion is one ignited by my late father, Tiny Gould, who was responsible for the modern classic car auction. My father brought me to the Auburn Auction Park from a young age and it’s a place I’ve associated with my entire career. The twice-a-year Auburn sales will continue the great collector car tradition that fuels Auburn, Indiana, and I look forward to being part of the team that draws even more new interest to this hobby we all love.”

Rob Myers, CEO and Founder of the RM Group of Companies adds, “I have been coming to Auburn for more than 30 years, both on my own and with the RM Group of Companies, and I have no plans of stopping. The Auburn Auction Park and the events we hold here are an integral part of our business. We are deeply committed to continuing this great tradition and putting on an even more successful Auburn Fall in 2018. We look forward to sharing further details later this year.”

Saratoga Auto Auction Feature Consignments
1960 BMW Isetta
This is a fun vehicle guaranteed to bring a smile to anyone who sees it on the road. Called a "bubble car," the most entertaining aspect is trying to get in or out with the entire door swinging out and the steering wheel moving to the side.

BMW bought the Isetta from the original Italian manufacturer to have a low priced model while trying to recover financially from the war. This proved a brilliant move and some 200,000 Isettas were built over an 8-year period.
1961 Sunbeam Alpine
As with most enthusiast cars the engine is the heart of it. This right hand drive car sports a 1.6L I-4 engine with Webber Carbs and from the 1st crack of the engine you know this car wants to go! George Hartwell Ltd did all the engine tuning for Harrington at the time of the original build. As with the exceptional styling of the exterior, the engine also is something to behold with chrome accents throughout and those Webber carbs windup all motoring aficionados. The Harrington also has true wire wheels w/knockoffs to complete the ensemble.
