The Restoration Show Sale results   Just one week after achieving a number of new record prices at Race Retro, we secured more records at the Practical Classics Restoration and Classic Car Show last Sunday. In the home city of Land Rover, record prices were secured for two very special Series One examples. Italian supercars, fast Fords and restoration projects also achieved more high sale prices, bringing the total sales rate to 75% with a value of £1.5 million. 1973 Porsche 911 2.4S     The Porsche 911S represented the pinnacle of Stuttgart’s sportscar program in the early 1970s, bettered only in performance terms by the 2.7RS.   Offered here is a 1973 Porsche 911S Targa finished in its original colour of Silver Metallic (8010) with black interior and one of the final ‘F' series 911s. The Porsche letter of Authenticity confirms it to have matching engine numbers. The comprehensive history file picks up with a Mr Kwan acquiring the Targa in 1978 and selling on to Mr Peter Lee in 1984. There is a continuous line of service history from then along with every MoT Certificate.   Many classic car publications are now predicting a rise in Targa values and so this very usable example offers a great opportunity to invest. The 911S derivatives are a benchmark car and the possibility of taking this car to another level of presentation exist.   Estimate (£): 90,000 - 100,000   Read more here

1988 Ford Sierra Cosworth     Offered here is a stunning Texaco-liveried Sierra Cosworth that has campaigned with significant success in the 2013 and 2014 Classic Touring Cars Racing Club (CTRC) pre-'93 Touring Car series. According to marque specialists Oakfields, who offered their knowledge and assistance during the build, it is believed to be the last known genuine, right-hand drive 909 Sierra shell in existence.   Presented in superb order throughout, the car has just finished the 2014 season, which it won outright in October at Spa. However, during its time with the current owner it crucially avoided any 'racing incidents' and the bodywork and finish remain excellent. 1997 Porsche 911 Carrera 4     The 993 series is well placed in the 911 spectrum, encapsulating the unmistakable magic and unique feel of the air cooled era whilst offering a modern yet involving driving experience.   Finished in Arena Red Metallic with contrasting black leather interior, this particular 993 Carrera 4 was first delivered to the UK on the 1st of February 1997. Factory options included 17" Cup Wheels, rear window wiper, tinted windshield, air conditioning and electric sunroof.   The car has just been serviced by well-respected Porsche specialists RS 911 in Wales and is supplied with a full condition report from them and almost one year's MoT. 1994 Jaguar XJ220     This very special XJ220 will was handbuilt by TWR Jaguar in Oxford in 1991 before being exported to Brunei by special order of the Royal Family. The car remained as part of the world renowned car collection until September 2002 travelling just 1,412 miles in their eight year tenure.   The car returned to the UK in September 2002 and then became the property of flamboyant champagne dealer before moving on to the current owner. The car has now covered just less than 6,000 miles and is supported by MoT certificates dating back to 2002. ‘JAZ 220’ has recently had expert work completed by probably the UK’s leading authority on XJ220s, renowned specialists Don Law Racing of Staffordshire. This car has had little use over recent years, which is clear to see from its amazing condition.   These incredibly rare cars are one of our favourite supercars of all time. This is a fantastic example with a great history and very low mileage. It’s such a stunning design that still looks good nearly 25 years on.   Estimate (£): 200,000 - 220,000   Read more here

1959 Fiat Abarth 750 Zagato     This wonderful 1959 Fiat Abarth 750 Zagato was purchased by the vendor in the Netherlands as a sound base project. The Zagato was then shipped to Australia and underwent a four year restoration. The aluminium body was stripped to bare metal, coated and primed for paint. The evocative blue paint finish is now in concours condition.   The transaxle, complete with Abarth tags and original Abarth R/P, was rebuilt with new bearings and mated to a freshly rebuilt 843cc engine. A new Abarth exhaust and sump were also fitted and the restoration was finished beautifully with top grade carpets and new re-trimmed seats.   Many rare original features can be seen on this double-bubble, including the original gauges, steering wheel and even the 12" vented steel wheels and NOS spinners. All original badges, alloy body trim and bumpers are present and it is a joy to behold. Welcomed at a wide range of international events, this little car is listed in the DeBoer Abarth registry. These giant-killers rarely come up for public sale, are highly prized by Abarth collectors and this example represents a true turn-key proposition.    Estimate (£): 60,000 - 75,000   Read more here

1977 Ferrari 308 GTB Vetroresina     This rare right-hand drive UK-spec car bears the all-important chassis number #20637, and is finished in Rosso Corsa Red with Nero trim and Rosso inserts inside the cabin. The car is in outstanding condition in every way with the paint finish gleaming front to back.   The huge history file that accompanies this car has been fastidiously maintained almost as much as the car itself, documenting everything from 1977 -2014. Only 329 miles ago, the car has had a major service at well-known specialist Simon Furlonger, including new plugs, new cam cover gaskets, new input shafts, cambelt change, air filter and brake fluid. Currently sitting on 16" alloys on a set of new P7 tyres, the vendor states that the original 14" wheels come with the car and are part of this sale.   This is a rare opportunity to acquire one of the most sought after variations of the 308. 1971 Ford Escort Twin-Cam

 

 

This original road specification Escort Twin-Cam is a 1971 example finished in copper red with black interior. Built in Australia and first sold new to New Zealand, the car was at one time owned and raced by Richard McCathy in New Zealand.

 

Supplied with a good history file detailing expenditure over the years, the engine was fully rebuilt to race standards with Gilmore drive, Edgel works head, lightened and balanced crankshaft and twin 45 Webber carburettors. The interior is finished to standard specification with auto sport master seats. The bodywork is presented in lovely order and this car has clearly been restored to a high specification.

 

This lovely example of a fast-appreciating model is guided very sensibly in today's collector motor car market and presented in this rare colour combination, you will certainly stand out from the crowd of Ermine White Twin-Cam owners.

1969 DeTomaso Mangusta   We are proud to offer this exquisitely restored to original specification Mangusta. This ‘twin headlight' model is presented in Red with a Black leather interior and is a left-hand drive European car. Our vendor purchased the car earlier this year and sent it to well-known specialist Simon Furlonger for a full service and MoT, while also attending to a few minor niggles that were remedied easily enough. Sold with its V5C, MoT and road tax paid until 2015, and with the odometer now reading 34,796 miles, this car represents a masterpiece in design flair combined with brute engine power. 1970 Ford Capri Perana V8   The ultimate and rarest incarnation of the Ford Capri could be yours next month. These cars do not come onto the market often, let alone in this superb restored condition. This Ford Perana Capri is arguably the best currently available and was on display at the NEC Classic Motor Show in 2013. The car was sourced by our vendor from inland South Africa and upon receipt it was subject to a complete back to metal, nut and bolt restoration which took place over the last three years. Anything that needed replacing was replaced, with original Ford items where possible. If genuine Ford spares were not available then it was remade to the original Ford specification. 1994 Porsche 911 964 Turbo 3.6     This is one of those extremely rare and sought after cars that was built new in left-hand drive for the German market (as designated by the '00' chassis number). Today it is a matching numbers car with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity to prove. It has a comprehensive history file which confirms the mileage throughout its life and is offered with a warranted 46,000kms from new (28,500 miles). This car has EU taxes paid and the vendor has applied for a NOVA, however, if this car remains in the UK it will require registering. 1980 Talbot Lotus Sunbeam

 

This is your chance to chance to own a 'brand new' hot hatch icon. The car is presented in immaculate, as new condition, has never been registered and has covered just 193 miles in its lifetime.

The left-hand drive, time warp car was discovered overlooked and ignored as part of a large private collection in Italy by the current vendor. Silverstone Auction Latest

Just one of three right-hand drive automatic examples produced, this Bentley R Type Continental Fastback could be yours

It is the 31^st of March 1954 and Mr. Alan G Clark has just placed his order for a very special motorcar, this stunning Bentley R Type Continental Fastback.

Clearly a discerning customer, Mr. Clark specified the car with an automatic gearbox and a number of special features including electric window lifts, flat petrol tank, Smiths ventilation and heating system and two RD 8187 Foglamps in place of the standard centre lamp.

Like many of the models, the chassis was produced at the Rolls-Royce factory in Crewe while some 170 miles to the south, the lightweight, aluminium coachwork was being handcrafted by H. J. Mulliner & Co. The result must have been spectacular, and still is today.

We are delighted to be able to offer this rare, late D Series fastback car in our Classic Motor Show Sale at the NEC, Birmingham. Just one of three produced in right-hand drive with the automatic gearbox, this is a car presented in impeccable, close to concours condition and we are informed by the vendor that it needs nothing doing whatsoever.

The car comes to us with an extensive history file for major works undertaken to it during the last few years. The car has been maintained regardless of cost with extensive works having been completed by both P & A Wood and Frank Dales.

A beautifully styled masterpiece, this car offers gracious classic motoring with just a hint of modern convenience.

SILVERSTONE AUTUMN SALE UPDATE -20Tth SEPTEMBER

and unique classics on offer at Silverstone sale RARE and UNIQUE CLASSICS on OFFER at SILVERSTONE SALE Over 60 classic cars and three historic motorcycles will be ofred in Silverstone Auctions' Autumn Sale at Silverstone race circuit this Saturday. The sale, taking place on September 20th, features a fantastic array of exotic and unique classic cars. Topping the bill is a stunning, low mileage 1985 Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalve, estimated at between £80,000 and £90,000. The highly collectible car has covered just over 10,000 miles from new and is in superb condition. Other Italian cars include a 2011 Fiat 500 Stirling Moss 722 Tribute, estimated at between £9,000 and £12,000. The car is totally unique having been created by a friend of the legendary racing driver who has signed the dash and headrests, and sports his famous 722 number on the doors, bonnet and boot lid. One of only two RHD models believed to be left in existence, a 1960 Steyr Puch 500 is estimated at between £15,000 and £18,000. After years in storage this wonderful little car has been brought back to the road, with fresh interior trim, new tyres and very few other minor mechanical touches and is now offered for auction. 1967 Ford Shelby Mustang GT350     This 1967 Shelby Mustang GT350 is finished in Acapulco Blue with white Le Mans stripes and was built on 5th May 1967. The car was imported to the UK in 1998 and was purchased by the current owner in 2004.   A substantial two-year restoration was then carried out by the vendor. Along with extensive body work the engine was replaced with a rebuilt and period correct Ford 289 hi-po engine, mated to a newly refurbished 4-speed top loader gearbox while the interior is largely original.   Original GT350s rarely come onto the open market and this car represents an exciting opportunity for any lover of the iconic Mustang.   Estimate (£): 50,000 - 60,000   Read more

1960 Steyr Puch 500     One of only 33 right-hand drive models produced, this example is believed to be one of only two cars to remain, with the other surviving car residing in the Steyr Puch museum in Austria.   'AEM 655' was first registered in the UK on October 21st 1960 to Ryders of Liverpool as the original UK demonstration car. Incredibly, the original delivery note from the factory to Ryders in 1960 is included with this lot. Purchased by the current vendor in 2013, the previous owner from the Republic of Ireland had kept it in storage for of 28 years. After years in storage this wonderful little car has been brought back to the road, with fresh interior trim, new tyres and very few other minor mechanical touches and is now offered for auction.   This stunningly unique 500 is an intricate piece of the Steyr/Fiat family and is a fantastic opportunity for both Steyr and Fiat collectors to acquire a special model.   Estimate (£): 15,000 - 18,000   Read more

1962 Daimler Dart SP250 'B-Spec'     The Daimler Dart was launched in 1959. This example is an original manual UK car first registered 17th May 1962 and shows just four former keepers.   The beautiful car was subject to a complete restoration in the 1990s, with a full respray, fitment of new chrome wire wheels and a stainless steel exhaust carried out two years ago to ensure that it looks and runs as it should.   It has been well maintained and is presented with a superb history file. These Daimler SP250s have been an underrated classic for some time and are now starting to find traction in the market as a wonderful driving and a great value British sports car.   Estimate (£): 30,000 - 35,000   Read more

1966 Jaguar E-Type Series I 4.2 Litre Fixedhead Coupe

 

 

An original Heritage Certificate shows this left-hand drive Series I 4.2 Fixedhead Coupe was manufactured on 5th April 1966 and originally registered in Coventry but spent the majority of its life in the USA.

 

The car was restored in 2012 and returned to the UK in 2013 and re-registered as HOV 115D. This matching numbers car is now finished in white with red interior, having had a complete body re-spray and new red leather interior fitted. The bodywork is presented in lovely order, with good shut lines and a consistent paint throughout. The interior looks superb and the engine bay is very clean and presentable. Mechanically the engine boasts good oil pressure and pulls well.

 

The Series I 4.2 Fixedhead Coupe is seen by many as the most desirable E-Type to own and use, with the reliable 4.2 powerplant and purest of body lines. This example is an ideal first classic for the discerning enthusiast.
