CCA FIRES UP TV QUATTRO FOR CHARITY AUCTION

  • 1984 Audi Quattro Turbo 10V to be auctioned for cancer charities
  • The car previously restored on Channel 4’s Car S.O.S
  • CCA to auction the car on 15th September at the Warwickshire Event Centre

Classic Car Auctions (CCA), will auction a special 1984 Audi Quattro Turbo, which once featured in Channel 4’s Car S.O.S, to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support and the Mesothelioma UK Trust as part of its upcoming September Sale on Saturday 15thSeptember at the Warwickshire Event Centre.
One of the most iconic and popular modern classics on the market, the restored Quattro Turbo is expected to raise over £20,000 for the charities after being left to them by its last owner, Barry Hollamby, who passed away in 2016 after a long illness with asbestos-related cancer.
“We’re absolutely honoured to have been entrusted with the sale of this very special Audi Quattro,” explained Gary Dunne, auction manager, CCA. “We know that Barry treasured his Quattro over the years and that it was his wish that it be sold to benefit these two charities. We hope to do Barry’s legacy justice and raise important funds for these two invaluable charities.”
The right-hand drive, 2.1L 1984 Audi Quattro Turbo 10V manual was owned by Barry for 14 years and has had five owners from new. During Barry’s ownership, the car was even featured in Series 3 of Channel 4’s popular Car S.O.S, which saw Tim Shaw and Fuzz Townsend restore the car at a time when his poor health left him unable to complete work on the car himself. The Audi was returned to Barry in the presence of his family and friends in the emotional and memorable episode.
James Stebbings, Head of Legacy Income at Macmillan Cancer Support, explains; “Last year gifts in wills accounted for almost a third of Macmillan’s income. As a charity that receives no government funding and relies entirely on the generosity of the public, we are hugely grateful for donations such as the fantastic car left by Barry. Every penny raised will be used to support people with cancer to live life as fully as they can.”
Meanwhile, Jill Lemon from Mesothelioma UK Charitable Trust commented; “We are a national specialist resource centre, specifically for asbestos-related cancer, mesothelioma. The generosity and support from Barry as well as CCA will help us to promote the development of specialist mesothelioma nursing practice and fund the 18 specialist nursing posts around the UK.”
The charity Audi Quattro will be auctioned showing 96,000 miles with a sale estimate of £20,000 to £25,000. To find out more about the 1984 Audi Quattro Turbo 10V for sale and how to bid during the auction, visit https://www.classiccarauctions.co.uk/audi-quattro-wr.
