SILVERSTONE AUCTION UPDATE NEC RESULTS

More than £4.5million worth of classics sold at The Classic Motor Show Sale

Our final auction of the year was a resounding success achieving a total sales value of more than £4.5million and a sales rate of 81 per cent at the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show this weekend. Some amazing prices were paid for some very special cars including rare Porsches, a very special Jaguar XJ220 and some classic hot hatchbacks.

You can view the full results here.

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has attended one of our sales during the year and we look forward to welcoming you at our next auction which will be held at Race Retro, taking place at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire.

We’re now inviting entries into the sale on 21st and 22nd February 2015. You can find out more here.

We look forward to seeing you at one of our sales next year but for now, read on for some of the amazing prices that were paid this weekend.

1994 Jaguar XJ220- Pre-sale estimate £200,000-£220,000: SOLD £247,500

This very special XJ220 roared to a believed world record price. Once owned by the Royal Family of Brunei and with pre-sale interest from around the globe, the car eventually sold for a premium inclusive £247,500 to a buyer from Singapore.

1980 Talbot Lotus Sunbeam- Pre-sale estimate £24,000-£28,000: SOLD £50,625

Astounding the crowds at the NEC was the sale of the ‘brand new’ 1980 Talbot Lotus Sunbeam. Living up to its pre-sale interest determined bidding from buyers in the room, online and over the phone helped it sail past its estimate selling for an amazing total.

1994 Porsche 911 964 Turbo 3.6 - Pre-sale estimate £135,000-£155,000: SOLD £220,500

Porsche prices show no sign of slowing down. This extremely rare 1994 Porsche 911 964 Turbo 3.6 was subject to a hard fought bidding war and sold for £90,000 over its lower estimate.

1951 Land Rover Series 1 80”- Pre-sale estimate £20,000-£24,000: SOLD £38,250

In the heart of the UK’s automotive industry classics from local marque Land Rover clearly caught the attention of bidders. This immaculately presented Series I Land Rover was one of favourite lots of the sale and sold for nearly double its lower estimate.

1973 Ford AVO Mk I Escort RS Mexico- Pre-sale estimate £18,000-£22,000: SOLD £27,563

With MKI Escorts proving in demand as ever this stunning and genuine RS Mexico example was, we can say with confidence, the finest we have ever offered for sale. The attention to detail lavished on this car was simply amazing. Escort aficionados clearly agreed and it sold for nearly £10,000 over its lower estimate.

1966 Porsche 904-6 Carrera GTS Recreation- Pre-sale estimate £75,000-£90,000: SOLD £146,250

This stunning replica was built over a period of four years by a Porsche enthusiast in collaboration with marque specialists Martin & Walker. The glassfibre bodywork was copied from one of the original 120 cars, while the engine is a 2.5-litre short-stroke unit. It stunned all at the NEC nearly doubling its pre-sale lower estimate.

1965 Mercedes-Benz 230SL 'Pagoda'- Pre-sale estimate £45,000-£50,000: SOLD £70,313

We've seen a significant increase in demand for Pagoda Mercedes’ here in the UK, partly due to the 190SL rising beyond the budgets of many. This example had benefitted from more than £70,000 of expenditure as well as an outstanding history file. With all the hard work done its no surprise it sold more than £20,000 over its upper estimate.
