SILVERSTONE AUCTIONS - SALON PRIEVE SALE 4th September

One week to go until The Salon Privé Sale

There’s just one week to go until The Salon Privé Sale where more than 50 stunning classic vehicles representing some of the best available on the market will be on offer. We’re also delighted to be auctioning some very special charity lots raising money for Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity. Read on for more details or why not browse the online catalogue here.

Bidding is available in various formats. You can bid by telephone or by leaving a commission bid with us before the sale. Online there are three platforms that you can bid through. We're pleased to announce that you can now bid online through our website via proxibid.com or externally via liveauctioneers.com and i-bidder.com. Of course, we would love to see you at the auction itself at Salon Privé. You can register to bid here.

Viewing is available on Wednesday 3rd September from 10am until 7pm, and on Thursday 4th from 11am until the auction begins at 6pm.

But for now, here are more of the fantastic lots that will be going under the hammer.

1954 Bentley R-Type Continental Fastback

Winner of the 'Most Elegant Design' award at Salon Privé 2013, this late D-Series Fastback was extensively restored by P&A Wood in the 1980's and was part of the 50th Anniversary celebrations at Silverstone in 2002.

In current ownership this proven motorcar has delivered more than 12,000 trouble-free continental touring miles across Ireland, France, Switzerland, Italy and Sardinia.

Low production coach built cars from discerning marques such as Bentley will doubtless never cease to hit the high notes. Don't underestimate how few opportunities may remain to contribute a D-Series Manual R-Type Continental Fastback in such resplendent order as this to your collection.

Estimate (£): 900,000 - 1,100,000

1951 Jowett Jupiter Special by Coachcraft

The continuous line of ownership reads like a ‘boys own annual' of adventurers, engineers and an F1 World Champion. Owned by legendary racing driver John Surtees OBE from 1990-2012, this Jowett won at Goodwood in 1954.

This Special Jupiter was ordered by a Mr Chaplin in 1950 for competition use and was displayed as a chassis at the Earls Court Motor Show. On November 9th it was delivered to HM Bentley & Partners of London as a rolling chassis for fitment of the FHC body by Coachcraft of Egham. It was equipped with the Series III engine, with race crankshaft, special 4:2 axle ratio and right hand floor mounted gear change.

Remarkably this Jowett Jupiter Special remains in the same conditions as its day in the ‘spotlight' in May 1954 and has covered only 34,000 miles in its 63 year history. Could you join the exclusive club of owners?

Estimate (£): 28,000 - 32,000

1967 Fiat Dino Spider by Pininfarina

This beautiful 206 Dino Spider was bought new in Belgium and a letter from the factory confirms the car was built in December 1967. The UK registration certificate states this Spider has had only two former keepers since 1972. The previous owner acquired the vehicle in 1989 and had the car bare metal resprayed in its beautiful current colour combination of Azzurro Cielo with cream interior.

A full photographic record of the respray and rebuild can be found in the history file and after the work was completed, this little Spider won the prestigious UK Concours D'Elegance for the Dino Club. Purchased by the current vendor in 2003, himself a passionate collector of Italian cars, the light-weight aluminium block and gearbox have been recently rebuilt to racing specification.

This is a car that can genuinely be used for all occasions, be it races, rallies, tours or concours and the car is welcomed by event organisers and admiring crowds wherever it goes.

Estimate (£): 60,000 - 75,000
