SILVERSTONE AUCTIONS HEADS TO HEYTHROP FOR TWO DAY MAY SALE

SILVERSTONE AUCTIONS HEADS TO HEYTHROP FOR TWO DAY MAY SALE

Silverstone Auctions will be holding their two day May sale at Heythrop Park on the 10thand 11th May, supported by the Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club, with fine cars and memorabilia being offered for sale.
Saturday’s Classic Car sale will offer 50 cars including a 1972 Ferrari Daytona Spyder and a 1998 Porsche 911 (930) Turbo Targa G50 being offered. Sunday will be the British Marques sale and currently consigned is a superb 1960 AC Aceca and a 1954 Jaguar XK120 DHC.
The 1972 Ferrari Daytona Spyder Conversion is an absolutely breathtaking car. It was originally supplied by Maranello Concessionaires in March 1972 and has travelled just 8,700 miles. The car was professionally converted in 1978 to Spyder form by Richard Straman Coachworks in California. Presented in Blue Dino Metallizzato paint colour, this car has been meticulously maintained as is estimated at £500,000 to £575,000.
Also offered is this rather fine looking 1988 Porsche 911, one of the very last 930 Turbos with the G50 5 speed manual gearbox. This is a very desirable car with 71,725 miles, a substantial service record and also included in the sale is the Targa removal roof panel. This car is in remarkable condition and is a collectable classic estimated at £75,000 to £85,000.
Sunday’s sale of British marques is supported by the Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club so naturally there will be a few Jaguars on offer amongst other classic British marques.
One of the star lots is this fabulous 1960 AC Aceca which has been consigned to the sale. This is one of the very best, having undergone restoration by the previous owner with the intention of making it the best in the world. Now offered for sale by the current owner of seven years and for the first time on the open market, this sleek fastback comes with a comprehensive history file on its restoration. According to the AC Aceca register this car was originally ordered in Mist Green, one of only six ever finished in that colour with the original six cylinder AC unit. This car has had so much love to make and keep it in the condition it is presented in, it seems to tick all the boxes and is available for £110,000 to £130,000.
One of several Jaguars include in the sale is this superb example of the XK120, a UK supplied car in right hand drive presented in British Racing Green and in excellent condition with a Jaguar Heritage Certificate. This car was first registered in January 1954 and supplied new to Squadron Leader Desmond de Villiers of Hertford. ‘Dizzy' de Villiers AFC was the Chief Test Pilot at the De Havilland Aircraft Company.
The car has undergone a nut and bolt restoration with the engine being fully rebuilt along with the axle and gearbox over a 30 year period using specialist restorers. The car underwent further work in 2008 with supporting documents including updates to improve driveability and reliability. A very desirable car to own and on offer for £75,000 to £85,000.
Arwel Richards, Auction Manager for the Heythrop sale commented "Set within the historic grounds of the Grade II listed Heythrop Park, the auction will showcase gleaming examples of automotive excellence akin to a Concours d'Elegance with best of breed examples of all marques over our two day sale in the heart of the Cotswolds.”
“We have responded to this new enthusiast led market by tailoring our catalogue to meet the highest of expectations by offering cars of the best quality at estimates that reflect their rarity and condition."
"Many of the cars we have on offer have caught the eye of many a concours judge, with one car gaining a third place at Pebble Beach in 2015, arguably the most exacting of all concours competitions."
"Our team of specialists are negotiating some superb motorcars which will add to the catalogue in the coming weeks. There are still some spaces left, however, for vendors to include their cars among the exclusive line up and take part in one of the headline sales of the year."
Silverstone Auctions are still accepting cars for the auction and can be contacted on 01926 691141 or email enquiries@silverstoneauctions.com and would be happy to talk with you and help you through the process of consigning your car.

RM SOTHEBY’S ANNOUNCES RARE ZAGATO-DESIGNED CARS AS EARLY HIGHLIGHTS FOR VILLA ERBA SALE

RM SOTHEBY’S ANNOUNCES RARE ZAGATO-DESIGNED CARS AS EARLY HIGHLIGHTS FOR VILLA ERBA SALE

GROUP LED BY 1955 FIAT 8V ZAGATO COUPÉ
  • RM Sotheby’s returns to the shores of Lake Como, Italy for its exclusive biennial sale at Villa Erba, 25 May, the official auction of the revered Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este
  • Joining the already announced 1931 Aston Martin 1.5-litre International ‘LM5’, is a stunning lineup of four Zagato-designed collector cars
  • The Zagato quartet includes a 1955 Fiat 8V Coupé by Zagato, a 1959 Fiat-Abarth 750 GT 'Double Bubble' by Zagato, a 1966 Lancia Flaminia Super Sport 3C 2.8 by Zagato and a 2019 Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Shooting Brake
  • Further event information and frequently updated list of entries available at rmsothebys.com

LONDON (20 March 2019) – RM Sotheby’s, the world’s largest auction house for investment-quality automobiles, is delighted to return to the shores of Lake Como, Italy, for its highly anticipated biennial Villa Erba sale, 25 May, during the revered Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este weekend. As ever, this prestigious showcase sale will feature the very best investment-quality cars available to the market. With an historic and highly original 1931 Aston Martin 1.5-litre International ‘LM5’ already setting the tone for early entries, RM Sotheby’s is now delighted to announce four stunning and highly collectable Zagato-bodied cars, particularly fitting in the legendary Italian company’s 100th anniversary year.

“The opportunity to share in the centennial celebration of Zagato is indeed a special occasion and given the amazing bespoke designs from the Italian coachbuilder, we are truly excited to include a curated selection of motor cars in our prestigious Villa Erba auction,” says Augustin Sabatié-Garat, Auction Manager, RM Sotheby’s Europe. “As we progress with consignments, we will continue to add other watershed creations from Zagato to join the early highlights.”

Leading the group is a truly beautiful 1955 Fiat 8V Coupé by Zagato, one of the most celebrated Italian cars of its decade. The car on offer, chassis no. 000076, is one of 26 coupes built and was delivered new to its first owner in Turin, originally finished in Green metallic paintwork contrasting with its black interior. Remaining in its native Italy until at least the late 1970s, it has been used and enjoyed as befits a fine sports car, having participated in historic racing events in Italy in the 1970s and 1980s, including the Mille Miglia. The recent recipient of a sympathetic, full restoration in its original colours, it retains its original Tipo 104.000 engine and remains ready to be driven and enjoyed by its next owner (Est. €1.600.000 - €1.800.000).

Perhaps best viewed as the Fiat 8V’s equally delectable younger brother, a 1959 Fiat-Abarth 750 GT 'Double Bubble' by Zagato is also set for RM Sotheby’s Villa Erba sale. This lovely little sports GT car is based on the chassis of the humble Fiat 600, however it is a joy to drive and allows access to racing events all over the world. The ultra-lightweight nature of these cars makes the 750cc GT a proper competitor and is undoubtedly one of the most famous and interesting motor cars produced by the two legendary brands, Abarth and Zagato. The 1959 example offered for sale is fitted with the rare and desirable Mille Miglia engine, which was equipped from the factory with a lightweight crankshaft. With known long-term history, this Abarth is believed to have raced in period in the U.S. when new. The car benefits from a full nut-and-bolt restoration and is presented in concours-ready condition, as well as with an Abarth Classiche Certificate of Authenticity (Est. €100.000 - €200.000).

Joining the Zagato-bodied cars on offer is a 1966 Lancia Flaminia Super Sport 3C 2.8 by Zagato. A superb example of Lancia’s second-series Flaminia Sport, this car is offered from long-term ownership and finished in stylish slate grey over red leather interior. Fully restored to concours standards, this Lancia, offered without reserve, is a stellar example of mid-century Italian design and elegance (Est. €230.000 - €280.000, offered without reserve).

And bringing Zagato’s distinctive design philosophy bang up to date, is a 2019 Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Shooting Brake, the 12th of only 99 built and arguably the most interesting of the Vanquish Zagato body styles. The fruit of Aston Martin’s newest collaboration with Zagato and first seen at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in 2016, the car is made completely of carbon fibre while the stunning body clothes the Vanquish’s 6.0-litre V12 engine producing 580 bhp, with further mechanical changes include a slightly more open exhaust and a stiffer suspension. Each Vanquish Zagato was fully customisable, making each car unique. Delivered new to its first and only owner in France, the car offered is finished in Lava Red over an Obsidian Black interior and boasts a number of interesting options, including black brake callipers, roof in bare carbon fibre, black exhaust pipes, Shadow Bronze jewellery interior pack and Zagato emblems embroidered on the headrests in Spicy Red. A virtually as-new example and offered without reserve, the Aston Martin is estimated at €650.000 - €850.000.

The official auction house of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, RM Sotheby’s Villa Erba sale will lift the gavel on a carefully curated roster of just 50 of the world’s finest automobiles. To discuss limited remaining consignment opportunities, please call RM Sotheby’s London office at +44 (0) 20 7851 7070 or visit rmsothebys.com for further information and to view a frequently updated list of entries.

RADWOOD COMES TO RM AUCTIONS FORT LAUDERDALE SALE

THE BEST CARS OF THE ‘80S AND ‘90S SET FOR 29-30 MARCH
AT THE BROWARD COUNTY CONVENTION CENTER

  • RADwood to host the first-ever event in South Florida at RM Auctions’ Fort Lauderdale sale, 29-30 March
  • RADwood brings together iconic cars of the ‘80s and ‘90s for the premier automotive celebration of the period
  • Complete information on RM Auctions Fort Lauderdale sale available at rmsothebys.com
  • Event details for RADwood at RM Auctions available at radwood.co

BLENHEIM, Ontario (18 March 2019) – RM Auctions is thrilled to partner with RADwood, the car show that blends period correct dress with automotive awesomeness, for their first ever event in South Florida, set for 29-30 March during RM’s 17th annual Fort Lauderdale auction. RADwood at RM Auctions will bring together a curated group of more than 30 of the most iconic cars of the ‘80s and ‘90s at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center for a celebration of all things “rad”, perfectly matched to the next offering of the Youngtimer Collection at RM Auctions’ Fort Lauderdale sale.

RADwood is the premier automotive festival of its kind, giving enthusiasts of 1980s and 90s cars the show they truly deserve. The show is intended primarily for cars built between 1 January 1980 and 31 December 1999, though exceptions will be made for earlier cars with a distinctly period-correct aesthetic. Of course, much like that other "wood" event across the pond, period dress is compulsory, so get your Members Only jacket, Hammer pants, Michael Jordan jersey, aviator sunglasses, or Zubaz out of storage and come join in the fun.

“We could not be more excited to join forces with RADwood at our Fort Lauderdale auction,” said Gord Duff, Global Head of Auctions, RM Sotheby’s Group. “Many members of the RM Auctions team, as well as our clients, are true enthusiasts of the ‘80s and ‘90s automotive era, and we’ve been fans of RADwood events from the very start. The show will pair perfectly with the South Florida vibe and with cars from the Youngtimer Collection on offer in Fort Lauderdale, which features some of raddest and previously underappreciated emerging collectables of the period.”

“For years, the ‘80s and ‘90s cars have been written off as generally not fun to drive, uninspiring, and uniformly boxy. RADwood aims to prove that there were plenty of exciting and interesting enthusiast cars of the era worthy of celebration, and RM Auctions is definitely on the same page” said Art Cervantes, one of the organizers of RADwood. “Whether you love Minitrucks, Lowriders, Euro-trash, American Muscle, Sport Compact Cars, Imports, Race Cars, or something else entirely, RADwood wants to help put you together with like-minded enthusiasts that will appreciate your ride. This show is going to be all that and a bag of chips, so come say WAZZUP!”

The much-buzzed-about Youngtimer Collection is comprised of more than 140 modern collectibles from the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s divided across four RM Sotheby’s Group sales in 2019 – Paris, Amelia Island, Fort Lauderdale and the company’s inaugural Essen, Germany sale. Following record-setting success in Paris and Amelia Island, an offering of 19 cars is headed to Fort Lauderdale, including a 1984 Renault 5 Turbo 2, a 1990 Nissan 300ZX Turbo ‘Shiro Z’, a 1995 Porsche 968 Cabriolet, and a 2002 Bentley Continental R Le Mans Series. Additional information on RM Auctions’ Fort Lauderdale sale, including all cars from the Youngtimer Collection, event details, tickets, and bidder registration, is available at rmsothebys.com. OVER 190 CLASSICS TO GO UNDER THE HAMMER AT CCA AUCTION THIS WEEKEND

OVER 190 CLASSICS TO GO UNDER THE HAMMER AT CCA AUCTION THIS WEEKEND

  • On the prowl a rare Hillman Avenger Tiger 2 looking for a new home
Over 190 classic cars for all budgets will head to Classic Car Auctions (CCA) sale on the 23rd and 24th March at the Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration show being held at the NEC, Birmingham.
The forthcoming sale will see a wide variety of “Everyman classics” from Austin to a Model Y van, Aston Martin to Rolls Royce with cars at no reserve to estimates of £50,000 and above.
A selection of cars featured in the sale is a 1991 low mileage ex-collection Vauxhall Nova SR, a one owner three-door 1985 Range Rover now in a collection, a 1933 Ford Model Y Van, an aluminium bodied 1948 Bentley MKVI Mulliner, a rare 1973 Hillman Avenger Tiger 2 and a highly desirable 1989 BMW E30 325i Sport.
Gary Dunne from CCA commented “We are very pleased with the wide selection of cars we have to offer at our auction this coming weekend. In keeping with our aim of providing “Everyman classics”, there should be something there to suit all classic car enthusiasts.”
If you have always fancied a quick BMW and not been able to find an M3 then this 325i Sport could be your opportunity to own a piece of classic German engineering. This 1989 325i Sport is presented in the desirable Dolphin grey and travelled 67,000 from its four previous owners. This car is possibly one of the best currently available and one not to be missed, estimated at £22,000 - £26,000 we really believe the 325s have a big future in the market.
Want to stand out from the crowd with something a bit different, but rare and racy, then the 1973 Hillman Avenger Tiger 2 could be the car. The Mark2 was introduced in October 1972 and only 400 were built, making this car particularly rare. Having been in a private collection for the last couple of years, it is now offered for sale with a fresh MOT at £16,000 to £18,000.
With classic Range Rover commanding high prices, CCA has a classic 3 door, 1985 model. This car has had just one owner and covered what is to be believed a genuine 21,900 miles. It has been fitted with a new full-length safari Webasto sunroof, nudge bars and alloys. With an estimate of £15,000 to £18,000 and a fresh MOT and having spent the last year as part of a private collection, this Range Rover will be a welcome addition for any enthusiast of the brand.
If you are looking for something more classic, CCA has this lovely little 1933 Ford Model Y 5CWT Van finished in maroon and cream. This is the rare pre-November 1933 model which has had many thousands of pounds spent on restoration and is in excellent condition. The van also features a very desirable number plate which is included in the sale. With the rise of classic themed events, this could be your form of transport as a promotion vehicle or for a collection. Estimated at £14,000 to £18,000.
Mulliner was synonymous with coachbuilding and took luxury to the next level. Bentleys were always luxurious and Mulliner created its magic with this 1948 Bentley MKVI Mulliner lightweight aluminium saloon, just 1 of 125 produced. The car has had 4 owners during its life with the former keeper spending 22 years restoring it to glory and the current vendor cherishing it for the last three years. The mileage seems to be correct at 69,815 miles and comes with Bentley build records, factory correspondence, invoices and past MOTs. The cherished number plate is included in the sale and estimate of £32,000 to £36,000.
And for a bit of fun the 1991 Vauxhall Nova SR is a particularly worthy lot, as this car has only covered 29,500 miles and has come to market from a collection of low mileage Vauxhalls. With an extensive history file and once featured in Total Vauxhall magazine, the car is offered with an estimate of £7,000 to £8,000 and would make a cracking addition to any collection.
