FABULOUS FERRARI FLARE ON OFFER AT AUTOSPORT INTERNATIONAL SALE
One of only 52 right-hand drive UK supplied 1970 Ferrari 365 GT 2+2s will be offered at auction when Silverstone Auctions makes its debut at the Autosport International Show on 12th January at the NEC, Birmingham.
The 365 GT was the quintessential 1960s Grand Tourer when it was launched at the Paris Salon de l’Automobile exhibition in October 1967. This beautiful 1970 model has been part of a highly exclusive private collection for the past 20 years and was recently featured in Auto Italia magazine (August 2018). The car has been given an estimate of £190,000 to £220,000.
“This beautiful, long-legged Ferrari offers drivers the complete sixties Italian Grand Touring experience,” says Joe Watts, classic car specialist at Silverstone Auctions. “Designed by Pininfarina, the 365 was the pinnacle of style and class during the 1960s, with performance to match thanks to its powerful engine and superb handling.”
Delivering 320bhp in its 365 GT incarnation, the well-proven 4.4 litre V12 engine is coupled to a five-speed gearbox and is capable of 0 to 60mph in just 7.0 seconds with a top speed of 150mph. It was also fitted with the latest state of the art, hydropneumatic self-levelling rear suspension by Koni, along with Girling ventilated disc brakes all round.
The Ferrari has been meticulously maintained throughout its life with the history file containing numerous invoices from marque specialists including Graypaul Ferrari, Neil Twyman and Maranello Concessionaires. The car recently received a thorough mechanical and engine overhaul at a cost of nearly £20,000, it was also repainted in its original Azzurro Hyperion which looks splendid and complements the unmarked Borrani wheels well. The interior reflects the high standard of the exterior, finished in blue leather with the original Nardi steering wheel.
“This matching-numbers car drives and performs as well as you’d expect and is certainly one of the best examples of its type available. This classic four-seater beauty offers a substantial opportunity over its two-seater stablemates from the 1960s,” concludes Joe.
The car is supplied with its original and very rare leather Ferrari wallet and handbook.
