On 8 September, Bonhams will offer an impressive range of classic and vintage racing cars, historic transporters and celebrity-owned supercars at its Goodwood Revival Sale.
Fittingly for a Goodwood sale, there are several highly eligible classic racing cars and some iconic transporters. One of the most exciting and recognisable is the 1956 Fiat Bartoletti Transporter (£500,000-600,000) which was used by several important teams including Maserati Works, Shelby American Cobra Works and Alan Mann Racing.
It starred in arguably the most famous motoring racing film of all time, Le Mans, after being acquired by Steve McQueen’s Solar Productions. It was repainted in almost every recognisable racing livery throughout filming to ensure that it could be used as a prop in as many scenes as possible. It finished its stint on set painted a striking bright red having been portrayed as a Scuderia Ferrari vehicle.

During its active life on the racing circuit, it transported some of the greatest cars and drivers in motoring history including the works Maserati 250Fs, works Shelby Cobra roadsters and works Ford GTs driven by stars such as Fangio, Dan Gurney, Phil Hill and Graham Hill.
This is a true piece of motor racing history. It is 9m in length and can reach an impressive 85km/h despite having room to carry three racing cars and at least seven crew members.
