AMELIA ISLAND, Florida (9 March 2018) – RM Sotheby’s, in collaboration with the Porsche Experience Center Atlanta, is delighted to announce The Porsche 70thAnniversary Sale, an exclusive, single-marque auction to be held at the ground-breaking home of Porsche Cars North America (PCNA) in Atlanta. Set for the weekend of 27 October, the sale shortly follows official U.S. 70th anniversary celebrations taking place as part of  Porsche Rennsport Reunion VI and will feature approximately 70 of the world’s most important and most sought-after collectable Porsche models, spanning the marque’s illustrious 70-year history as a sports car manufacturer.
RM Sotheby’s has long established itself as a market leader in the sale of rare, significant Porsche cars at auction, with exceptional examples offered across the company’s North American and European calendar of auction events. In the last two years alone, RM Sotheby’s has been at the helm of a nascent and developing sector of collectable Porsche vehicles, which broke ground at the company’s 2016 London sale and brought global attention to the collectability of Type 993 911 specials. RM Sotheby’s has continued to bring outstanding Porsche cars to auction, most notably led by single-owner groups which have yielded record results at its Paris, Amelia Island, Villa Erba, and Monterey events. Collectors can expect no less at the company’s Amelia Island sale today, which is set to present a group of 11 exceedingly rare Porsche 911 Type 964 variants assembled by a single collector.
The American market has always played a pivotal role for Porsche, beginning with the introduction of the legendary 356 Speedster in the mid-1950s. Today, this importance is evident with the opening of the Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta—the first immersive brand centre built by Porsche in North America—which also houses the corporate headquarters of Porsche Cars North America (PCNA). Making for a weekend packed with automotive excitement, the entire Porsche Experience Center Atlanta (PEC ATL) will be open for RM Sotheby’s registered bidders to enjoy, all made easily accessible thanks to the facility’s location adjacent to the runways of Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. Amenities include a 1.6-mile driver development track; a Business Center; Classic Car Gallery and Restoration Center; and, the Porsche Exclusive – Personal Design Studio. In addition, the experience centre includes a Driving Simulator Lab, the Porsche Driver’s Selection Store, the Carrera Café and Restaurant 356 for the ultimate fine-dining experience.
