H&H CLASSIC CAR CLIENTS CELEBRATE HRH THE QUEEN’S 90TH BIRTHDAY AT BUCKINGHAM PALACE CONCOURS D’ELEGANCE
A 1959 XK150 SE 3.4 Litre Drophead Coupe, estimated to sell for £135000 – 165000 at H&H Classics next auction at Duxford .
H&H Classics – the only auction house invited – will help to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday at Buckingham Palace on October 15 in a stunning line-up featuring 90 British classic vehicles.
The H&H Classics contingent attending this prestigious event will be: Simon Hope in a 1939 Bentley 4.25 litre Vanden Plas Tourer, Gary Welsby in a 1997 Caterham Super Seven, Jim Andrews in a 1939 MG VA Tickford Coupe, Owen John in a 1982 Aston Martin Lagonda Series 2, Herman Deroost in a 1951 Triumph Renown, David Toms in a 1968/69 3.5 litre Rover Coupe, Albert Fellner in a 1980 Carmargue, Michael Bork in a 1955 Lagonda 3 litre Drophead Coupe which used to belong to Prince Philip and which will be returning ‘home’ for the first time in years (the car made a world record of £350,000 at a recent H&H sale), and Sir Greg Knight MP driving a 1963 Jensen CV8.
This special event being held at Buckingham Palace is part of the wider celebrations of Her Majesty’s life and will feature one British-made vehicle to represent each of Her Majesty’s 90 years.
HRH Prince Michael of Kent who has a long and distinguished association with British motoring will inspect the varied selection of 90 vehicles on the day. Both the Chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Motor Group and the All-Party Parliamentary Historic Vehicles Group - Richard Burden MP and Sir Gregory Knight MP - will also inspect the vehicles on display and select 'Their Favourite Vehicle'.
The event organizer, John Cole, who arranged a similar concours on the Queen’s 80th birthday, approached H&H to ask for their support in finding the full complement of 90 cars from their international high net worth customer base. The response from H&H clients was immediate and overwhelming.
Simon Hope, H&H Classics Chairman said: “We are greatly honoured by this invitation and delighted to take part in making this a memorable day for Her Majesty. It will doubtless be a memorable day for all of those taking part. It is not often that one gets the opportunity to drive one’s own car into Buckingham Palace.
