The incredible tractors of the world’s largest orchard, grove and vineyard collection coupled with a tidal wave of enthusiastic bidders and attendees made for a record-breaking auction with the offering of the Charles Schneider Collectionon June 4 in Lapeer, Michigan. As Gone Farmin’s first time offering a collection from its private storage and display location, the results were an excellent success. Total auction sales soared to near $2 million with more than 100 tractors sold.
Minneapolis-Moline tractors dominated the auction as five tractors from the company’s factories were among the auction’s top-10 sellers. The star of the auction was the exclusive 1938 Minneapolis-Moline UDLX (Lot S2)—one of the finest UDLX tractors of the 20 to 30 in existence—which shattered sales records at $200,000. The hammer dropped at $150,000 on the 1938 Minneapolis-Moline UTOX (Lot S1), which was one of only 26 UTOXs built. This tractor was the first one believed to be offered at public auction. The rare, wide-front Minneapolis-Moline R-Cab (Lot S27) sold for $43,000 and was one of fewer than 400 built. TheMinneapolis-Moline Twin City JTO (Lot S15) sold for $37,500.
In addition to a solid group of tractors, more than 250 signs, farm relics and collectibles were offered in this exclusive collection. The top seller of the signs was the Case with Old Abe vertical neon sign (Lot M173), which sold for $13,000.
“If you want world-class auction results, choose Mecum Auctions’ Gone Farmin’,” says Charles Schneider. “I used Gone Farmin’ to sell the world’s largest orchard, grove and vineyard tractor collection and had exceptional sales—setting 10 new sales records throughout the auction.”
