Classic convertibles perfect for summer driving

Classic convertibles perfect for summer driving

Spring has sprung and so now is the perfect time for top-down driving. We’ve got some lovely classic convertibles just entered into our June Sale at the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre on Saturday 18th June.

Whether you’re a fan of classic British sportscars, stylish little 80s Alfas, a classic boulevard Mercedes, or fun, brightly coloured 70s drop-tops, we have several cars in the sale to give you a very enjoyable summer of top-down motoring.

See the lot list so far here.

Read on to find out more about our favourite convertibles on offer in the auction.
1971 Triumph TR6

This delightful, restored Triumph TR6 is finished in Sapphire Blue with a black leather interior. According to its Heritage certificate, this car was built in late 1971 and left the factory in Coventry in January 1972 as a left-hand drive export, destined for British Leyland Motors, in Denver, Colorado.

It was first registered in the UK in 1998 when it was also restored and converted to right-hand drive. With pile carpets, plush-looking bucket seats, a traditional wooden dashboard, this TR6 is in excellent shape and offers classic British sports car fun for a very reasonable outlay.

Estimate (£): 13,000 - 16,000

1971 BMW 2002 Baur Targa

Who wouldn't want one of these? This striking BMW 2002 Baur Targa in Inca Orange, is a rare, right-hand drive example with just four registered owners from new.

'Karosserie Baur' has been building BMW convertibles since the Thirties, but the 2002 model was the first time they had used a 'targa' style.

Recommissioned just two years ago at a cost of around £5,000, this little Baur is fun to drive, particular as a convertible with its neat little drop-top and bright, period colour scheme.

Estimate (£): 6,500 - 8,500

Reading just over 27,000 miles, this car represents an excellent opportunity to acquire a model that is now gaining momentum in the collectors market.
