AUBURN, Indiana (February 24, 2016) – As the warm weather swiftly approaches, Auctions America is busy preparing for the return of its Auburn Spring event, May 5-7. The first of the company’s two annual sales held at the historic Auburn Auction Park, the event has emerged as a spring tradition for collector car enthusiasts from across the country. This year’s event is set to build on the solid foundation of years past, lifting the gavel on approximately 500 quality collector vehicles and an assortment of automobilia.

Shining a spotlight on domestic engineering and design, early entries for the May event are headlined by a fantastic assortment of American-built automobiles. For those with a penchant for classic 1950s Americana, the line-up is led by an award-winning 1953 Oldsmobile 98 Convertible—a model that effortlessly combined iconic 50s curves and performance to become the marque’s most popular convertible that year. Offered from a local Auburn collector, the featured 98 is dazzling in white over a green interior with a dark green top,  a recent AACA Junior award winner and benefits from a frame-off restoration, which was completed using many new old stock parts (Est. $70,000 - $80,000).

Illustrating the event’s focus on American-built automobiles, additional early entries include:

·         a 1968 Shelby GT500 Fastback, benefitting from a high-quality restoration completed in 2003 and presented in black over black ($110,000 - $125,000);

·         a limited production 1948 Chrysler Town & Country Convertible, a beautiful example of the popular “woodie”, finished in green with a green interior and tan canvas top ($100,000 - $145,000); and 

·         a 1957 Pontiac Star Chief, fully restored to original factory specs and beautifully presented in Maroon with a red and white interior and white top ($80,000 - $90,000).

Building on Auctions America’s successful presentation of private collections in Auburn, the May event will also offer a number of single-vendor collections as feature segments. Notable early highlights include The Driscoll Collection, an eclectic group of 22 automobiles, along with a selection of vehicles from a prominent Michigan collector; both collections will be offered without reserve. The Driscoll Collection is highlighted by a two-time NCRS Top Flight Blue Ribbon-winning 1966 Chevrolet Corvette 427 Coupe ($55,000 - $75,000) and a superb 1983 Porsche 911 Turbo Coupe, beautifully presented in Champagne over black ($75,000 - $85,000), while the private Michigan collection features such popular American classics as a 1946 Lincoln Continental Convertible ($60,000 - $80,000) and an excellent, low-mileage 1960 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham ($85,000 – $100,000).

Beyond the auction excitement, Auburn Spring will present a terrific series of other automotive-themed activities for enthusiasts of all ages; uncover treasures in the onsite swap meet and car corral, or browse through display vehicles, club booths, manufacturer displays and detailing demonstrations at the Automotive Midway, a new attraction at this year’s event. In addition, Auburn Spring will also play host to the Antique Automobile Club of America’s (AACA) National Spring meet, which is set to bring an additional 400 cars to the Auburn Auction Park, making for a well-rounded hobby weekend.
