Modern classics march on at The Restoration & Classic Car Sale

Modern classics march on at The Restoration & Classic Car Sale

A selection of stunning modern classics were among the many cars that achieved some fantastic prices for vendors in our sale at the Practical Classics Restoration Show last weekend.

Continuing our run of strong results this year, the sale saw a sales rate of 84 per cent and total sales of £2million. An eclectic range of project cars as well as road ready classics were on offer at the NEC, Birmingham, with a wealth of international buyers joining those in the room via phone and through online bidding.

You can view the full set of results from Saturday’s sale here.

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who attended the sale and congratulate all those successful bidders.  We’re now inviting quality consignments into our May Sale which takes place at Silverstone circuit on May 23rd. You can find out more here.

We do hope to see you at our next sale but for now read on for some of the amazing prices that were paid last weekend.

2010 Porsche 911 GT2 RS - Pre-sale estimate £200,000-£220,000: SOLD £236,250

This amazing Porsche, one of just 500 produced worldwide, secured the highest price at the auction. After frenzied bidding the car eventually sold to a buyer in the US for more than £30,000 over its lower estimate.

2001 BMW Z8 - Pre-sale estimate £75,000-£90,000: SOLD £123,750

Sports cars from Munich were also in demand. This rare and superbly presented 2001 BMW Z8 proved a hit with buyers selling for nearly £50,000 over its lower estimate.

2003 Porsche 911 GT2 - Pre-sale estimate £65,000-£75,000: SOLD £86,625

With only 129 examples of this car ever sold in the UK the numbers would suggest that this model has decent long term investment potential. And visitors to the sale clearly agreed as it sold for more than £10,000 over its upper estimate.

1971 Aston Martin DBS V8 - Pre-sale estimate £55,000 – £75,000: SOLD £79,875

Aston Martin prices continue upwards with this desirable early four headlamp example 1971 DBS V8 selling for nearly £25,000 over its lower estimate.

 1980 Aston Martin V8 - Pre-sale estimate £75,000 – £90,000: SOLD £87,750

This beautifully restored British muscle car wowed all who attended the sale with its sheer beauty. Supplied with a UK V5c and a MoT, and at a fraction of the cost of its predecessors, the DB4, 5 and 6, this V8 certainly caught the attention of the bidders.

1994 Ferrari 348 Spider - Pre-sale estimate £50,000 - £55,000: SOLD £65,250

This car is one of only 75 Spiders that were made in right-hand drive for the UK market. This beautiful example was supplied with a full condition report by respected Ferrari specialists Terry Keys at Silverstone prior to the auction. 348 prices have been steadily climbing in recent years and this example was the best we have seen for many years.

1986 Mercedes-Benz 500 SL Auto - Pre-sale estimate £50,000 – £60,000: SOLD £59,625

Now recognised as the best built Mercedes ever, this 1986 500SL had covered just over 9,000 miles in 29 years. Previously part of the famous Patrick Car Collection, set up by Joseph Patrick of Patrick Motors Ltd, the car sold for nearly £10,000 over its lower estimate.

1998 Ferrari F355 Spider-Pre-sale estimate £60,000 - £70,000: SOLD £72,000

This stunning looking F355 Spider had been carefully maintained throughout its life. Considered by many as one of Pininfarina's finest designs, this was a wonderful example of a timeless modern classic.
