H&H AUCTIONS - AUCTION CALENDAR 2017

AUCTION CALENDAR 2017

In 2016 H&H Classics have enjoyed year of growth and strong sales in which records have been smashed for both cars and motorcycles. The year started well at our new Donington Park venue, we then signed a partnership deal with Scotland’s leading auction house - Lyon & Turnbull - and we had two very strong IWM Duxford sales. This year we have also grown the management team with some key internal appointments, and assigned three European agents. It’s been a year with some interesting Royal connections too. These include taking Prince Philip’s 1954 Lagonda back to its old stomping grounds at Windsor Great Park, and then selling it for a world record of £346,800. Furthermore, we were the only auction house invited to bring cars to Buckingham Palace to help celebrate HM The Queen’s 90th birthday.
The motorcycle team brought a number of fabulous collections and one or two spectacular barn-finds to the market. A Brough Superior SS100 with sidecar sold privately for £313,600, making it the most expensive motorcycle that we have ever sold.
The private treaty division of H&H Classics has gone from strength to strength with the team in Surrey and Warrington having at one point six cars worth a total £35m on offer. This side of our business will doubtless continue to grow as we successfully sell cars privately for those clients who prefer this route to open auctions.
In 2017 we will hold four sales at Donington Park featuring Popular Classics and three at the IWM Duxford offering Selected Classics. New to our calendar will be a sale at the RAC Woodcote Park with the focus on Sports and GT Cars taking place in partnership with the Motorsport Hall of Fame event on June 6th. In 2017 our Motorcycle sales will only be held in Donington. You can find our 2017 sales calendar below and as download in this email.
The first highlight of 2017 will be a Ferrari Nembo Spyder for sale in March to benefit the East Anglia Air Ambulance Service. Racing driver and motoring enthusiast Richard Allen who passed away on November 26th 2016 could clearly remember the helicopter of the East Anglia Air Ambulance Service (EAAA) coming to the help of one of his fellow race drivers after a crash, hence his generous gesture; the gift of a 1964 Ferrari 330GT Nembo Spider to be sold without reserve at auction by H&H Classics to benefit the EAAA on March 29that the Imperial War Museum, Duxford.
Damian Jones, Head of Sales at H&H Classics, looks towards 2017; “Modern, limited edition hypercars such as the Ferrari LaFerrari are still comfortably exceeding their original list prices, while at the other end of the scale the interest shown in Land Rover Discovery MK1s is definitely on the rise. Cars eligible for the world’s greatest and most prestigious historic events remain in strong demand as do those that have been exquisitely restored or are exceptionally original. Collectors are happy to pay a significant premium in order to ‘jump the queue’ when it comes to acquiring a car that has been meticulously (and very recently) refurbished by a world-respected marque specialist. Similarly, they will dig deep to secure an example of a desirable car that retains all its factory spot welds, chalk marks and nuts and bolts etc. almost regardless of how decrepit it has become. Currently buyers tend to favour collector cars with a proven ‘evergreen’ appeal hence perhaps the re-strengthening of Jaguar E-Type prices during the back half of 2016.”
We look forward to seeing you in 2017!
