Chassis number 28056 - tracing its roots back to 1859 the Swift Motor Company was formed during 1902, the P Type was produced between 1926 and 1931 with an 1190cc 4 cylinder side valve engine. This, originally blue example was supplied new some 90 years ago we believe by the dealership plaque by "William March Motor Engineers of Weldon" to a Matilda M F O'Brien of Peterborough, who from the original registration document we can see remained the owner until May 1931, when the car changed hands to a Charles George Aust of Weldon, who in turn remained the cars owner for some 30 years until August 1959 when "Matilda" passed to Mr Tyl OBrien Kennedy of Oxford, whose name has remained on the V5 until July 2017. Mr Kennedy has stated that he purchased the car while on National Service, and that "Matilda" had been out of use since the war, after an initial check over and some electrical work the car was recommissioned and proved reliable and technically very simple, so for around 5 years the car became his everyday transport. With journeys to Scotland, Paris and Ireland before the real test in 1961, an 8500-mile grand European tour taking in Prague, Kiev, Moscow, St Petersburg, Helsinki, Stockholm and back home via Denmark and
